Anyway, depending on his position in the team, our finances, and the fact that he practically costs us a €1Mil a year, he could prove to be a great signing. We've basically expanded our squad depth at minimum cost. I see nothing wrong with that.
One of the most one footed players in Europe and his distribution of the ball going forward has been rubbish for the last 2 years at Liverpool. If he gets his form back of a few years ago then he would be a good signing, Chelsea supposedly wanted him for 15m a few seasons ago, in the end he still took them to a Champions League final without even signing.
As a competetive rival, this is good news. He isnt alltogether terrible, but he isnt good in any way. So yeah, depth signing wise not a disaster, but he earns 2.8m??? Arent you the ones haggling with one of your best players Aquilani who wants to get 2m?
Very awkward player and not too wide ranged qualities (wide player, but not too mobile, stiff etc), weirdest part is he doesnt really fit in as LB because he is defensively poor, but he doesnt fit in as winger attacking because he he is without offensive edge. He is something between LB and winger. Corious to see how Spalletti will use him.
