I am opening this thread as we need a new place to discuss this issue, it is a separate matter to the Euro 2016 thread.

Bh. Manolo: BH Fanaticosi spornu tetovažu Ognjenu Vranješu vjerovatno neće oprostiti!
http://www.avaz.ba/clanak/183117/bh-manolo-bh-fanaticosi-spornu-tetovazu-ognjenu-vranjesu-vjerovatno-nece-oprostiti

I logged onto the BH Fanaticos fb page and most people seem to agree with them. However some disagree and even call BHF "diaspora shits" who are nationalists from abroad. :howler:

I don't agree with some of the things BHF do but I find it funny when people from back home curse them out when pretty much our success as an NT so far is really owed to BHF's dedicated support from 2005 and the boycott which happened later on.

Also most people in Bosnia never really liked following our NT till that infamous Dzeko Dijamantu game in 2009. They are like the biggest bandwagon fans ever.

BHFanaticos statement (Bosnian):

I'd like to hear his comments but covering up the tattoo are actions that speak pretty loudly.

I mean, if he was actually a huge Bosnian Serb nationalist, he wouldn't care what the fans thought and he'd never consider covering up the tattoo, imo.

FFS, I wish someone gave him an interview about it and got this all over with. Honestly, how hard is it to do that?

I'm not going to pass too much judgment until he speaks up about this. BHF, to all of their credit, doesn't know how to tread lightly. Someone from their group should have contacted our FA and given them an ultimatum - either he gives an interview addressing the tattoo or we'll publicly destroy him.

The last thing we need now is more tension.

I think Vranjes can redeem himself but he firstly needs to get suspended for 2 matches for what he did and to publicly apologize for his actions.

Without a sense of justice this situation will only get worse for both Vranjes and the NT as a whole.

Why would anyone vote no? Do you think that it would be acceptable for an Armenian player with a map of Turkey tattooed on his back get away with it like with our people? Unbelievable.

BTW Ognjen Vranješ is no stranger to controversy.

He celebrated Sheriff eliminating Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb in the qualification for the Champions League, wearing a Red Star shirt.

Will there be "strike 3 and you are out" by the fans for him? Time will tell.

He played for red star, so i don't know why you would be bothered by that.

Didn't he play for Sheriff at the time?

So he's just planning to act clueless about why he got the tattoo and expect everyone to forget about it just because he covered it up? He's even dumber than I thought.

I think he knows exactly why he got it and he's just hesitant to say why because he's afraid he might make even more people angry with the real reason for it so he's just deciding to hide from the truth in hope that people will just accept it, forget, and move on.

Typical bonehead response, I wouldn't mind seeing him not called up anymore now that I've seen what he's had to say in his defense on the whole matter.

Vranjes reponse was basically "fvck the fans, I made the tattoo and all I care about is still getting a call up to further my career".

If he apologized and said that he needed to reassess history then that would be a different story.

He has shown no remorse for his actions and should be kicked off the team.

Vranjes Napolje !

BHF always get what they want in the end when it comes to the Repka.. They are as said above the biggest supporters and follow the team everywhere.

Fans in BiH are shockers and most of them dont give two fcks about the national team and only support if winning..

I cant believe that there are Bosnian Muslims out there supporting Vranjes.. That is a disgrace, how quickly do we forget what happened to us 20 years ago.. God damn we are not normal. We will never learn. :frustrat:

outside of Horde Zla and Manijaci who don't even go to NT games there really is not one fan group in the old country that is worth their salt.

Pre 2010 I remember back home in Bosnia only me and my cousin watched NT games in the carsija whilst everybody else watched turbo-folk, eat meso and drank rakija.

Now these same people who call themselves "fans" today latched on to the NT's success (part of which is owed to BH fanaticos) are now attacking those very same fan groups who ensured that at least some normalization would come to our football :palm:

as the saying goes: tamo gdje prestaje logika, pocinje bosna

Let's look back at what Vranjes family brought to our NT:

Stojan Vranješ:

In 90+2 minute vs Mexico:

RyFnXJY_62M

I remember I was pretty hurt back then due to his unfortunate and very amateur mistake for a defender. Everyone at work made fun of the BH team (some Chinese and Iranian colleagues of mine) Embarrassing to say the least.

Ognjen Vranješ:

dWoBy-29XHU

Minute 1 20 of this video; Marjan Mijajlovic called it "Samaras did not take advantage of a huge mistake by Vranješ". I think we all remember this one and thought this is Greece 1 up.

Need I go on?

:D

Ognjen Vranjes did improve on his game after that poor performance. It's a shame he could not improve on his manners tho

  • The NT gave Vranjes everything
  • He needed to watch for feelings of others, not just own
  • We all wanted victory (against Izrael) so no one was making too much of it at the time.

I think its kind of problematic kicking Vranjes of the team, so I will bite(second attempt at this as I accidentally closed the first write up when I was almost finished - argh )

1)He actually lives there, pays his taxes there and comes from BIH. Not like the posters here or some of the diaspora players.
2)He willingly chose to play for BIH, he never had to be coaxed to play for BIH. Where Misimovic, Medunjanin and Hajrovic first choices were not BIH. BIH was always Vranjes first choice.( And comparing him to Misimovic would be wrong because Misimovic was a diaspora player not someone living in BIH at the time)
3)where would this really end as there are 1.3/1.4 millions Serbs in RS, who all think the same as Vranjes. They have Serb shirts, Serb flags, support Serb football clubs, do the the 3 fingered salute, are practicing Orthodox etc... like what criteria is acceptable and who decides what criteria allows you to play for BIH?

4)If a BIH player had a tattoo of the fleur de lis(liljani) or a player had the kockasti, would they still be accepted on the team?

5)And kicking Vranjes off the team does not change anything as I see it, because the next player from RS probably has the same intentions and feelings. And perpetuation(or perception) of only players chosen from the federation side will only add to the RS side saying we are not welcome or in the squad or further as part of the country as a whole.

So I say why not embrace Vranjes(his warts and all) at the same time sticking it to the RS side, by continuing to have one of their "own" on the squad.

Your arguments are all about respecting history and why the border was formed and I get that, but at some point if you want to blur that border, and actually get to work on that divide- someone has to make decision after decision to make a bridge over that divide. I certainly don't envy that person(s), but I don't see how kicking him off the team helps to close that schism.
:palm::palm::palm:

Yeah why don't we just start inviting Vojislav Seselj to Bilino Polje as a special guest and start welcoming banners that say stuff like "noz zica srebrenica".

I mean, Seselj is from RS and pays his taxes there and shares the same sentiments as people from that region. And Mladic did lead the srebrenica massacre in Bosnia so yeah, fair play.
