We have nothing to play for and our friends in Firenze need to win this to be sure of CL qualification. I want Milan and Fiorentina for different reasons in the CL, so I'm really not feeling strongly about this match. It would be nice to end the season on a positive note. Perhaps a draw would be fair then? ;)

A draw, combined with a Milan win, would send them through to the CL!
Remember kids, if the mighty Milan can't beat Napoli away, what makes them so deserving of the CL place? IMO this is just a classic example of their lack of commitment.

Anyways it would be good to give a few 16 year olds a run!!

Milan does not deserve a CL place, not with the squad and our home form this season.

Its not like Fiorentina have not gifted us the chance to reach 4th, so its not like you have earned the right to be there either so far.
It is fair that it comes down to the last game. And again, it is likely that fiorentina (about 66% chance) will make it to the Champions League next year, even if only for the first round.

I like Torino, so I would want Torino to win regardless of the situation. But now, I particularly like Italy's fallen giant to show the viola how its done :)

Forza Toro!

Playing schedule. Whilst our performances havent been the best, for the future of ITALIAN football (aka Montolivo, Donadel, Pasqual, Pazzini, Osvaldo, Gamberini, Lupoli, Cacia, Semioli), it's better that we do play that round of CL football.

I mean lets face it - we eliminated 2 Champions League teams out of Europe this season (PSV and Rosenborg)...what did Milan do :pp?

This year you were Italy's finest representation in Europe, and congratulations for that.
The fact that it was a UEFA Cup semifinal, shows the state of our football:
Ormai un campionato provinciale.

It reflects upon the nature of our 'top' teams -
ignorant, overpaid and selfish.

Like Bayern, a spell in UEFA can only do Milan good.

Yes I think you guys deserve CL.

We were awful this year and have no excuses.

Fiorentina on the other hand deserve to finally play CL football after the injustice instilled upon them as they should have played in the last 2 CL's
Maybe next year it can be Milan, Roma, Juve and Fiorentina qualifying for the CL :hopeful: With Inter struggling like they are atm its very much possible.

I dont agree with you guys about something tho. Saying that Torino should play the primavera team and take it easy. That is not cool and Fiorentina is supposedly the best team in serie a concering fair play so Torino should go out and give it their all in front of their fans.

It's ok, you won't!
But, if Torino wanted to win the game, look to the future and develop the squad you would sub half the squad for rising stars. Clear out those who are retiring or put in mediocre performances and spice it up with the kids who have done well in the youth team.

Think about it: as the coach, you get the young kids together before the game. You tell them it's their opportunity to shine, it doesn't matter if you lose go out there and have fun in the game against (potential) CL opponents. Nobody knows who you are, or how you play. You are a surprise packet.

All the ingredients of a convincing win, no?

Even if you don't win, I bet you those kids who played against the 4th finishing side would remember their experience forever. This is why I want Fiorentina in the CL, not to try and win the damn thing because the odds are stacked against us. But to get that experience of playing in the upper echelons of competition.

We won't field all our primavera team. We will probably give some of our better youth playeers a chance. As chinaren said we will probably see Nitride, Asamoah, and Malonga at some point. Also wouldn't be surprised to see Lys Gomis in goal.

Match Preview:
http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/sa0708/tor-fio.html

Gazzetta line-up:
Stellone
Di Michele-Grella
Zanetti-Corini-Diana
Pisano-Lanna-Di Loreto-Dellafiore
Sereni

Bench: Fontana, Franceschini, Rubin, Recoba, Barone, Bjelanovic, Ventola

Comotto, Natali, Lazetic are injured, Rosina is sick and in doubt while Motta is suspended.

Somehow I think we will field something a bit weaker than that. I expect to see the Malonga, Asamoah, Rubin, Nitride, and Gomis on the field at some point or another.

An italian giant should never do that
Flattered ;) Don't worry, we won't roll over for Fiorentina, in fact I think we'll start strong with Rubin and perhaps Malonga and depending on how the game is going we'll introduce some other players. We don't want to throw this game away, but I don't want to pass up the opportunity to test some of our younger potential stars either.

To be fair though two or three of those players a) already have first team experience or b) are ready for it. Rubin is quite good and has already featured in the first team for us except that up until now he has been hit by a serious long-term injury. Malonga has already featured (and scored) for the first team, while Asamoah is probably ready for first team football, having featured in the Ghana squad at the 2008 ACN and trained with the first team since February.

My lineup would be:
Stellone
Di Michele-Rosina (if fit, Zanetti if not)
Grella-Corini-Diana
Rubin-Lanna-Di Loreto-Dellafiore
Sereni

With Malonga to come on for Stellone or Di Michele at some point and Asamoah, Nitride, Gomis, Recoba, Barone, and Franceschini also on the bench.
