0-1 at Lazio was not a bad score per se. Probably a different referee and VAR in a game vs a different opponent would have conceded one penalty too (foul of Musacchio on Quagliarella, oddly Ranieri said it was not a penalty after the game).
That said, we should have tried harder because Lazio have a much more important game in a few days and they didn'y give their best against us. What about our lineup first of all? What the hell is Ramirez still doing in it? He is bad most of times, he is free at the end of the season. Why the hell is he starting? He has been replaced at half time obviously. Keita had not been particularly brilliant but Damsgaard-Keita had made a good pair in the recent past. Why did Damsgaard come in for Keita? What is the sense of having them in different times and never together? And why did Torregrossa come in for Candreva who is supposed to be one of the guys who cross for his head? Candreva crosses for no one, then Torregrossa has no one who crosses from the right flank. This makes no sense.

Like I said in the other thread, 1-1 was a deserved scoreline.

I forgot to talk about the pen incident though. I thought that foul on Quags could have been a pen like you said and I actually told myself during the match that I would ask you and the Samp boys what they thought.

Yeah, but lately, maybe because I'm aging, I'm less interested in the cheating part of the game and I'm enormously annoyed by the coaches who do not make a proper use of their weapons instead. Maybe watching Atalanta and Verona doesn't help it. These are two teams which make me enjoy the game, these are two teams whose games I'd always watch.

Haha, loved that one.

Saw the highlights, looked like Audero is on his game right now. Goal seemed to come after an uncharacteristic error from Yoshida, who's been excellent recently.

The Tinkerman's lineup for Atalanta in half a hour:

4-4-1-1

Audero - Beres, Yoshida, Ferrari, Augello - Damsgaard, Thorsby, Ekdal, Jankto - Verre - La Gumina

Quagliarella, Candreva, Gabbiadini and Keita on the bench, ready to enter in the second half (if ever) or play the midweek Derby della Lanterna

And of course, when a team doesn't score when there is the opportunity to do it, it's the other team which does it. That alone would be an oversemplification. The truth is that one team plays fantastic football even when they are forced to spare the energies of their players, while the other team disappeared in the second half after a first half played with a lot of energy but also a lot of confusion. The best player for us was once more Audero (!!!), but Damsgaard also played pretty well. No comment on Keita, Quagliarella, Ramirez and above all Candreva... all of them entered in the second half but could have warmed the bench till the end and no one would have realized it. No comment on the coach who even dared to say that "the light was turned off when La Gumina left the pitch" lol.

He was overall pretty harsh on the team, specifically Keita when commenting on the team performance after wards

HT of the Derby. Genoa looked a lot better to me, although Samp woke up a bit towards the end. I guess there isn't much else to say. Playing Silva and Ekdal together makes for a creativity shortage in the middle. Sadly, I think I will go to bed as I haven't slept well lately. Hopefully I see a winning score in the morning, but 0-0 wouldn't surprise me either.

1-1 FT

I think it was a pretty bad game. Truth is that the derby has often been a bad game. This time it was surely not bad because of the fouls. Both teams were so correct that the referee had to book just one (!!) player of Genoa.
We were saved by Tonelli and that alone is quite comical if you consider that the same Tonelli had (again) a part on the goal of the opponent.
The Tinkerman started the game with a 3-4-1-2, as he probably wanted to adopt the same formation of Genoa. It wasn't a success and during the second half he moved back to 4-4-2, by replacing Verre, who had not been the worst player on the pitch, with Jankto. The worst players on the pitch were easily Quagliarella and Keita. And Candreva, who at least put the ball on Tonelli's head for the equalizer. Candreva can be just partly justified by the fact that Ranieri goes on changing his position on the pitch. Partly because the other half of the truth is that he doesn't run enough. Above all if he has to cover all the flank, the way it happened with 3-4-1-2.
Finally Damsgaard, Thorsby and Askildsen remained at home because of flu (hopefully just flu) and we have another player (the goalie Letica?) who surely has covid.

The game with Cagliari will prove whether the players are still with Ranieri or something is broken. Cagliari have replaced Calamity Eusebio Di Francesco with Leonardo Semplici and have won 2 games on 2 since it happened. My prediction is that this game will improve Semplici's record to 3 on 3, but hopefully I'm wrong. Unfortunately Cagliari strongly needs to win games while we need just 9 points and we are safe. Hopefully Ferrero won't need to fire Ranieri before the end of the season. I'm not a fan of Ranieri and I don't want him to be our coach in the next season but now he must succeed in saving us. Obviously Ranieri must understand that Candreva is 34 yo and can't be a wingback running up and down the flank as if he was in his twenties. Hopefully the players do not think that the season is over and they will gain 9 points in a way or another before the end of the season, but sooner than later. We are close to spring but it is no time for flip-flops yet anyway. Not even when we have reached 40 points!

I won't even try to predict a lineup lol. We are talking about the Tinkerman and lately he is tinkering badly! Not just for the game every 3 days thing.
I don't think he will put Thorsby and Damsgaard in the starting lineup, even if they have have no more flu (it wasn't covid luckily!) because they can't have fully recovered the fitness. Torregrossa is also ruled out by a calf injury.

After an ugly 1st half without shots on goal for Sampdoria the score is Sampdoria 0 - Cagliari 1 (Joao Pedro).
The lineup has no real surprise. The exclusion of Yoshida, which is hard to explain, is no more a surprise. That said, we play like shit and the absence of Yoshida is hardly the reason of it. Let's see what happens in the second half.
The worst ones on the pitch are again Candreva, Quagliarella and Keita up to now.

The Tinkerman replaces Augello with Ramirez and moves from 4-4-2 to 3-4-1-2. In the past game he did the contrary. Ranieri gives me the idea of an old guy who fixes engines which do not work. He tries this, then tries that, maybe it works, maybe it doesn't work at all.

Simeone comes in for Cagliari. He has not scored one goal in the last 20 serie A games! It is time for him to do it, we are the best possible opponent!
