I don’t think Ivanić has been brought as a ten but rather to replace Krsticic.

So likely we’ll see Jovancic, Ivanic and Marin in front of them. That therefore doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll be selling anyone although I’m pretty sure that we were trying to move Jovicic on earlier in the transfer window.

Simic has done alright at times this season but I really liked the look of Jirka the other day. We’ll see how it goes but we’re looking very strong.

To Dule's point Radonjic at Marseille been a bit hit and miss. He was originally starting for Marseille in the Europa League group phase and was on the bench in the league. However, Marseille's form has gotten so bad over the past 3 months that he has been starting in the league recently. I think he just needs to keep working hard and not worry about the coach/results. Marseille is always a tough place to go to, but he just has to keep learning at this young age. It's also his first time after reviving his career at Zvezda that he has gone to a foreign country.

Marseille, as is the case almost every year, have the talent in the squad, especially attack wise, but they lack the organization and maybe the discipline to put it all together. I mean they have Payet, Balotelli, Germain, Ocampos, Thauvin and Radonjic... for most teams that's enough fire power to have a deadly attack, so it's a bit crazy how much they've struggled. Rudi Garcia takes some of the blame, but at a point it's also an organization problem. It doesn't help that in search of a winning formula the last 3 months, Marseille have literally changed formations what feels like every match. It's hard to find consistency that way.

I also forgot to mention re Zvezda that we signed Aleksa Vukanovic, currently the top scorer of the Serbian league from Napredak Krusevac. He has been mostly deployed in the left wing role thus far and is really battling with Simic and Jirka for that spot. In addition to Milos Degenek leaving for Saudi Arabia, we've signed Nemanja Milunovic who looks like a terrific acquisition thus far in pre season in the heart of the center of defense. For those that don't follow football as much, he was the best player for BATE Borisov next to Mirko Ivanic (the guy we're currently trying to sign) when BATE played us in Belgrade last fall in our Europa League campaign when we drew 1-1. His distribution out of the back is very good.

Also Dule, good point on Ivanic. I think that's one of the main reasons Mrkela and Milojevic wish to sign him. He can play in the center of midfield, a left inside forward or a playmaker. He's pretty versatile in those positions so it would give Milojevic much more tactical flexibility, especially for the European games.

Lastly, we played Rabotnicki today and won 2-1 after going a goal down in a very mixed starting eleven, which was really giving the backups a chance to prove their worth. The starting 11 was -

Popovic
Jevtovic Savic Babic Hajdin
Causic Ebecilio
Joveljic Simic Vukanovic
Pavkov

Here's the game below; goals came in at '41, '43 and '55. Thus far in pre-season we've managed only victories.... with one last game against Maribor coming up on the 8th of February before we go back to Belgrade. Pretty successful winter break by the looks of it.

Results during the winter break -

1/28/19 - Red Star Belgrade 4-1 Vacker Nordhausen
1/30/19 - Red Star Belgrade 3-0 Austria Vienna
2/02/19 - Red Star Belgrade 3-1 Ludogorets Razgrad
2/05/19 - Red Star Belgrade 2-1 Rabotnicki
2/09/19 - Red Star Belgrade vs. NK Maribor

Today we completed our final pre-season winter match, with a 1-0 defeat of Maribor, a regular in European competition the past 5-10 years. Marko Marin once again showed his true class here.

Jirka was actually a summer transfer window signing that was kept on loan at Trnava ;)

Didn’t we also sign a guy called Dejan Vidic or something and loaned him straight out to Zemun?

I know. The date reflects when he came to the club this winter.

Surprisingly little. Something like half a million euros for the year. Maybe a bit more.

Man, it was a game not worth discussing. We had literally a clear goal disallowed in the first half to prevent us going up 1-0. Ben was completely onside by a far margin and scored and the ref raised his flag... their goal was offside if their player played the ball through to Nikolic, but it was hard to see so I think that one is a bit harder to judge. In a pro Zvezda view, that's a 2 goal swing that you just can't afford at this level which is what Milojevic was describing.

In the second half Partizan just kept being aggressive in the tackle and it wore on the game as there were many explosive situations where there was a lot of pushing and shoving. I don't mind aggression at the derby level. That's what the derby is about. What was the problem was the referee who lost complete control of the match mid way through the first half and never regained it. He started calling fouls anytime anyone went down to seem impartial but it was ludicrous and then he didn't spot a clear elbow by Nikolic to Stojkovic and that's when it all went off with both benches coming together.

All of that was a result of the ref losing control. Horrible choice of ref for the derby.

Also should mention that our rival had a penalty call go against them that on another day could have gone in their favor. Still doesn't change the fact that we were disallowed a clear goal.

Their ‘penalty’ when their player decided to fall over Milunovic when he was laying on the floor and had no clue who was behind him?

That young guy should have been sent off, Zdjelar hit Marin in the face and got away with it, Stojkovic got booked for being elbowed in the face.

Danilo Grujic is a hardcore Partizan fan and well known as Grobari Cokot. This is hardly a surprise.

Extremely hard to play football when this shit is going on.

We beat Mladost the other day though and that’s a positive. Zemun tomorrow.

Huge game on the weekend... the championship round of the Jelen Super Liga is starting. 7 games left in the league, and standings are -

1. Crvena Zvezda 42
2. Radnicki Nis 38
3. Partizan 27
4. Cukaricki 27
5. Mladost 23
6. Napreadak 21
7. Vojvodina 20
8. Proleter 19

Our remaining fixtures... if we make the cup final, 10 games left to the season.

April 13 - H vs Radnicki Nis
April 16 - H vs Mladost Lucani (KUP, 1st leg)
April 21 - A vs Cukaricki
April 25 - H vs Partizan
May 1 - A vs Vojvodina
May 5 - H vs Mladost Lucani
May 11 - A vs Proleter Novi Sad
May 15 - A vs Mladost Lucani (KUP, 2nd leg)
May 19 - H vs Napredak Krusevac
May 23 - N vs TBD Partizan/Radnicki (KUP FINALE - NIS)

We face the challenger, Radnicki Nis, who have been excellent under our former captain and coach Nenad Lalatovic. They know very well how to play quickly on the counter and we will have to be extremely concentrated. Their biggest threat comes from Nermin Haskic who is the top scorer of the league this season.

I hope for the following 11 -

Borjan
Stojkovic Savic Milunovic Rodic
Jovancic Jovicic
Ben Marin Ivanic
Pavkov

Subs - Popovic, Gajic, Babic, Gobeljic, Causic, Simic, Boakye.

19 point lead vs buducnost in game 5 with 4:28 left in the 2nd. Game was delayed due to their players trying to provoke our crowd into getting thrown out.
