West Brom chairman Jeremy Pearce says the club must overhaul their scouting system this summer to ensure they can compete with the top British clubs.
Pearce admits the current scouting network is simply not good enough, describing it as "too scatter-gun".

"We have to get more systematic about the way we do it," he added.

"We need to look more at Europe and do things in such a way so as we know about players' characters and how they will integrate into this country."

The Baggies are currently only one point above the Premiership drop zone, although they do have a game in hand on all of the bottom three.

But despite bringing in a host of new signings on their return to the top-flight last summer, one of the few success stories has been Hungarian captain Zoltan Gera.

And Pearce hopes the impact Gera has had since his £1.5m switch from Ferencvaros will become the rule rather than the exception.

"If we've got people in place who can spot the talent early like Zoltan, who has been superb for us, then so much the better.

"I think you will see us getting that up and running in the summer."

... and about time too, I think they tried to do it while Megson was in charge but he insisted the transfer system was to be his dad and some bloke with a dog.
