Roma are about to sack Rudi Garcia. What is your opinion? And who would make a suitable replacement?

Fantastic, unavoidable news. The shithead thought the system would work itself it without employing any tactics at all. Italy chewed him up and spit him out.

Luciano Spalletti! Not only he is the leading candidate but coincidentally he is the coach who guided AS Roma in that glorious night in Madrid back in 2008 Champions League R16. Let's hope he can do that again next month.

Surprised it didn't happen at the end of last season.

The violinist has been on a downward spiral for a pretty long time.

Can one say he's left them in a better state than when he joined?

A real hit & miss. From last season's 10 game(?) winning streak and the "October Scudetto" to this.

I honestly like the guy, if he didn't have to play his violins all the time. :palm:

What was likable about him?

He never took responsibility for any of his failings whatsoever.

Blamed anyone and anything else.

Was repugnant.

Roma finished second twice under Garcia in two seasons. This was his third season, and is just 7 points away from top spot and 4 points away from CL. This sacking is clear indication, the new coach responsibility is to win the title.

If there was anything James Pallotta could have done that would bring an immidiate impact..firing Garcia was it. Bentornato a casa Spalletti!

I thought that was pretty obvious, because if Roma's only aspiration was to be a CL team then Rudi would have done fine.

Obviously the objective must be also to avoid embarrassing defeats in the CL as well.

So, they dumped one 7-1 and signed another one.

Spalletti wasn't the best of options and doesn't guarantee 3rd place.

Too bad we play them soon. There's often that new coach effect at the start.

It wasn't all Garcia's fault. Injuries and lack of depth (aka poor team building) have had their effect. Hard to win games with a Iturbe-Sadiq-Iago front line. But Garcia also shares a lot of the blame, and Roma players have been playing with their heads down. He lost the dressing room, and at that point the coach has to go. They didn't fire him in the false hope of winning the title. He was fired so that they can compete for top-3.

But they were competing for top 3. 4 points away from 3rd position.
Last 2 years under Garcia finished second as well, who would argue Roma squad is better then Juventus last 2 years???

If Capello managed to do it, Conte can too IMO. He's the closest to Fabio's personality and character.

But we wasted whatever slim chance we had landing him bringing Saplletti back again.
