Special game marked by Zarra´s death, there will be one minute of silence in all the stadiums and I suppose Athletic will prepare something special, hope we can dedicate him the victory.

No surprises, Endika Bordas and Llorente enter for the suspended Prieto and Amorebieta. Villarreal comes without Riquelme, injured.

The list:

Gk: Lafuente, Aranzubia.

Df: Iraola, Lacruz, Murillo, Casas, Ustaritz, Expósito.

Mf: Gurpegi, Orbaiz, Yeste, Guerrero, Endika.

Fw: Urzaiz, Aduriz, Etxeberria, Dañobeitia, Llorente.

With the doubt of Prieto and Amorebieta´s subs (Ustaritz or Lacruz & Casas or Expósito) the only change from Racing´s game could be the entrance of Urzaiz for Dañobeitia in the starting lineup.

Probable lineup:

.................Aranzubia

Iraola.....Murillo.....Ustaritz.....Casas

............Orbaiz......Gurpegi

Etxeberria......Aduriz..........Yeste

....................Urzaiz

Villarreal played on Wednesday in Glasgow against Rangers, where I suppose the game had a lot of rythm, as always there. They´ll come a bit tired so we have to put a lot of rythm too, and that´s why I like the idea of Dañobeitia coming from the bench in the last 30 minutes, with Villarreal players tired. The absence of Riquelme should favour us since they play for him, even if they have a lot of good players.

Gurpegi setps up....there's a stutter in his run...SAVED, and the follow-up header is over the bar. This game seems destined to be a draw.

cant belive it wat a chance missed for victory

Damn... again no two victories in a row...

Looking to the rest:
Málaga: 0 points
Cádiz: 1 point
Mallorca: 3 points versus Madrid
Alavès: 1 point
Sociedad: 0 points, gap to them back to two... :D
Real Betis: 3 points

So as usual, this point helps nothing in my opinion, gap to the relegation zone is 0 points... :nervous:

Sadly we couldn´t dedicate Zarra a victory, even if we were very close to it.:(

wat did athletic do to mark the passing away, just a minutes silence
Some kids wearing Athletic 'retro' kits with Zarra´s 9 at the back put a famous picture of Zarra heading a ball (this picture is in one of the walls of San Mamés) in the center of the pitch and they put images of him in the screens. It was a very emotive minute of silence with complete silence in the stadium and the piano version of Athletic´s hymn in the background. As I said there was minute of silence in all the stadiums and even they respected San Mamés´ minute of silence in the radios that as they commented it was the first time they ever did that.

I didn´t watch the game, I´ve just watched the extended highlights of ETB. Well, it was an open game with several chances for both teams, with an Athletic that showed some moments of great football in attack but made the same mistakes in defense that have costed us so many points this season.

We started with the lineup I posted with the change of Expósito for Casas. The first half was more for Villarreal, with 3 clear chances for Forlán, he sent 2 out and scored the third one, with a clear mistake by Murillo, just after our goal. Athletic had more chances but we lacked the final shot, they all ended with passes to noone. All except Aduriz´s goal, which was a good pass from Yeste between lines and he scored in the one vs one with Viera. It would have been different if would have kept the lead at halftime.

The second half was clearly for Athletic, all the chances were for us except one shot by Forlan very well saved by Lafuente. Athletic pushed a lot and searched for the goal, worth mentioning a great play by Aduriz, including one of his typicall great chest controls and went out for milimeters.:wallbang: The entrance of Dañobeitia in the last minutes gave us even more powder in attack, and it was a play by him on the right wing the one that originated the clear hand and therefore penalty of Peña in the 92nd. Pablo Orbaiz took it and.... the rest is history.:( How much we miss to have an efficient specialist on penalties as was Aitor Larrazabal for us during a decade, first Iraola, then Yeste and now Orbaiz, I hope this doesn´t affect him too. What a bad luck, seems that there´s no way we can win 2 games in a row.:wallbang:

Athletic´s MOM was clearly Joseba Etxeberria who played an excellent game on both wings, turning Villarreal´s defenders totally crazy. Good performance by the rest of the attacking line in general, with special mention for Aduriz (2 months in Athletic and already the top scorer with 4 'bakalaos'). It´s incredible we´re in this situation with an attacking line with the class, force, passion and intelligence of Yeste, Urzaiz, Etxeberria and Aduriz, also with the addition of Dañobeitia, Tiko and Julen, it´s very strange to believe. Probably the explanation is in defense, the only one who did well was Ustaritz, the rest.... well, Iraola was well in attack but suffered in defense as the rest, especially Murillo, sad after his good performances against Madrid and Racing.

Next week we travel to Sevilla, they lost 5-0 against Espanyol today, but they´re a good team that´s making a good season, the fight continues.:fero:
