Oslo soccer club Vålerenga continued its campaign to replace Rosenborg as Norway's top team, beating the Trondheim team for the second time in the new Scandinavian competition the Royal League.

Vålerenga's 1-0 away win over Rosenborg after a Freddy dos Santos penalty in the 47th minute was the Oslo club's third consecutive win over the team that has won the top domestic league for twelve years in a row.

Vålerenga was already assured of advancement to the second stage of the competition with a 4-0 record. Rosenborg must now defeat Djurgarden Stockholm in the final match of the preliminary group to assure a spot in the next stage.

The top four teams from Norway, Sweden and Denmark are taking part in the inaugural championship. So far Norway has the best record, but Tromsø has been eliminated from their preliminary group.

Bergen's Brann won 2-1 over Danish Odense and still has chances to advance from Group 3.
