BARCELONA, Spain, May 15 (AFP) - Brazilian striker Ronaldo refused to deny press rumours of a possible return to Barcelona here on Wednesday as he insisted he was totally focused on the upcoming World Cup finals.

Back in the Catalan capital for a pre-World Cup training camp, the Inter Milan star was asked three times about rumours that new coach Louis Van Gaal wanted to bring him back to the club where he starred in the 1996-1997 season. Each time Ronaldo replied: "I'm only interested in the World Cup."

He added: "To be honest, I'm not interested what the press write."

The former World Footballer of the Year said the finals in South Korea and Japan had special significance for him as injuries had ravaged his club season.

"The World Cup is very important for Brazil and for me because I didn't play much this year in the Italian championship.

"I'm very optimistic and I'm sure we'll have a good World Cup."

Brazil are due to play a Catalan XI in a friendly match on Saturday.
