Ronaldo 'out until mid-February'

ROME, Jan 26 (Reuters) - Inter Milan's Brazilian striker Ronaldo is unlikely to play again until mid-February after straining his thigh during a practice game, according to a report in Gazzetta Dello Sport on Saturday.
The forward sustained the strain during the game against Spanish side Real Mallorca B on Thursday in Palma, where Inter have been training this week.

Ronaldo, who has scored three goals this season, was expected to play some part for leaders Inter who face bottom club Venezia on Sunday, especially with Uruguay forward Alvaro Recoba injured.

The problem could also keep Ronaldo out of February's friendly between Brazil and Saudi Arabia, a warm up for the World Cup finals which his national team coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said he was 'almost 100 percent' certain to feature in.

But Inter President Massimo Moratti remained positive about the fitness of his injury-prone forward, who has spent much of the last two years out injured.

'Ronie is like a Ferrari in Formula One, not a runaround car' said Moratti was quoted as saying in Gazzetta.

'As with all high performance things, to get the best from him he must be in perfect shape.

'It's a shame that this happens just when he wants to start playing but it's important not to take unnecessary risks.'

Cannot see any problem, with Kallon in shape and playing great ands Ventola hasnt played for sometime, this is the right thing. S i wouldnt mind, aslong as he plays 15 games a season and kicks about 7 goals, this season is a sucess for Ronnie. Next season will be his total dominating one.

Damn Ronaldo is not doing so well !!!!

I feel that Inter is at a loss in waiting for Ronaldo to come back !!
I hate it when players kept getting injured !

When will we ever see a healthy Ronaldo back 100%??????
IF he got injured and out for another year, I would be so pissed off that I would consider selling him !

Its better to be cautious and give plenty of time for the guy to recover, rather than bringing him on half fit and risking further injuries.

World-Ronaldo relief as striker set for speedy return

ROME, Jan 28 (Reuters) - Ronaldo is set to return to training this week after tests carried out on the Inter Milan striker's latest injury revealed no serious damage.

There were fears Ronaldo would be out for another three weeks after coming off at halftime in a practice match against a Real Mallorca B side last week.

But the Brazilian's official website reported on Monday that tests carried out by Inter doctor Franco Combi confirmed he has suffered only a ``slight strain to his left hamstring.''

He could now be available for Brazil's friendly against Saudi Arabia on February 6.

Ronaldo said he was frustrated with Inter's 1-1 draw against bottom club Venezia on Sunday, which saw the club relinquish their place at the top of Serie A.

``We lost two precious points, considering that both Roma and Juventus have won, but we are still up there, close to them,'' said Ronaldo on his website.

``This Sunday has emphasised once again that the championship is a battle among three sides. At the moment I think that the difference between the first three teams and the rest is already too big.

``We need to be meaner and finish matches. We have to play our championship without being intimidated by anyone.''

Second-placed Inter are one point behind leaders Roma following Sunday's matches, with Juventus in third a further two points behind.

Chievo Verona are fourth, 10 points behind Roma.

Ronaldo Doesn't Have Muscular Damage

Ronaldo's injury doesn't look too bad (AP)
01/28/2002. Ronaldo has been undergoing tests on his latest injury and so far they have revealed that the Brazilian has no muscular damage.

The 25-year-old suffered a strain in a training session in Mallorca last week and there were fears that he may face another long spell on the sidelines.

However, club doctor Franco Combi has analysed the results and there is no serious damage as yet, although the Brazilian still feels pain in his left leg.

Ronaldo Lined Up To See A Specialist In Paris
News Archive

01/29/2002. Ronaldo will fly to Paris to consult with muscle specialist Philippe Boixel in the hope of ending the series of hamstring injuries that keep sidelining him. Boixel has already helped Christian Vieri overcome his problems.

Inter coach Hector Cuper believes that the latest muscle strain will keep Il Fenomeno out of action for 3 weeks and will therefore mean he misses Brazil's exhibition game in Saudi Arabia on February 6th.

Ronaldo to see Vieri's doctor Wednesday 30 January, 2002

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ronaldo is out for at least three weeks following his latest muscle injury, the fifth since his comeback in September.

The Inter medical staff has now decided a new consultation will be necessary with Professor Philippe Boixel.

The French doctor has already impressed the Nerazzurri with his work on Christian Vieri. The striker has suffered from various muscular strains in recent years but appears to be on top form after his visit to the Paris clinic in October.

It is hoped that Boixel will be able to do the same for the Brazilian when the two meet on Thursday. The latest setback was “muscular fatigue of the femoral bicep in the left leg,” explained Doctor Franco Combi on the Inter website.

This is a very similar injury to that suffered on Dec 23 at Piacenza. The medical team has theorised that the two operations to reconstruct the right knee are pushing Ronaldo to place more strain on the left leg.

Ronaldo to train in Brazil Thursday 31 January, 2002

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Injury plagued Ronaldo is set to fly to his homeland on Sunday to continue his battle against constant muscle problems.

The Brazilian arrived back in Italy on Thursday after meeting with Professor Philippe Boixel in Paris who helped Christian Vieri beat his various thigh problems last season.

Ronaldo has suffered five muscle fatigue setbacks since his comeback from knee injury last September.

He’s set to spend around 7 days in South America with his personal trainer Nilton Petrone in a bid to get the forward fit for the closing stages of the season.

He could return to action for the Milan derby or the game against Juventus in early March.

Meanwhile, there was some good news for the Nerazzurri. Both Stephane Dalmat and Alvaro Recoba trained on Thursday and should be available for first team duties in the next 14 days.
