Ronaldinho sets a triple target

Fifa World Player of the Year Ronaldinho is determined to retain his crown next December - but before doing so wants to help his club side Barcelona win trophies.

The Brazilian World Cup winner made it clear yesterday he has big plans for the new year. He said: "My aims are to win the Fifa World Player award a second time, to win the Champions League and the Spanish league with Barcelona.

"I believe that we can win them as our football is attractive and effective. I am a piece in the team nothing more and nothing less. I always try to do my best on the pitch which is where I feel most comfortable.

"I did not expect to win the Fifa World Player award and I was happy to be among the top three alongside Thierry Henry and Andriy Shevchenko who are extraordinary and I have been fans of them for years.

"I do not see myself as a star and I still have a lot to learn to be as good as Romario, Rivaldo or Ronaldo."

All three of those players - like Ronaldinho - won the Fifa World Player of the Year award while playing for Barca.

Ronaldinho has also reiterated his denials that he could be persuaded to move to Premier League leaders Chelsea.

"Never have I said that I have considered the possibility of going there. I want to make history with Barca and win a lot more titles," he added.

Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho has been named as coach of the 2004 fantasy team by French sports daily L'ةquipe.

Mourinho ends a magical year with his Chelsea side on top of the Premiership after winning the Champions League and the Portuguese title with former club Porto.

Two Chelsea players - central defenders John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho - are also named in the team.

Carvalho also moved from Porto to Chelsea in the summer while two of his former team-mates are also in the XI in Deco and Maniche.

Deco is now at Barcelona while Maniche remains on the books of the European and World Club champions.
