This is where the Torino Recoba jersey finally meets a worthy opponent. But if there is any validity to its powers, this is where it should shine the most.

Probable line-ups

Roma (3-4-2-1):
Pau Lopez; Mancini, Cristante, Ibanez; Zappacosta, Veretout, Diawara, Spinazzola; Pellegrini, Mkhitaryan; Dzeko

Suspended: None

Injured: Santon, Mirante, Fazio

On a yellow card: Dzeko, Kluivert, Santon, Diawara

Inter (3-4-1-2): Handanovic; Skriniar, De Vrij, Bastoni; Moses, Brozovic, Gagliardini, Biraghi; Eriksen; Alexis Sanchez, Lautaro Martinez

Suspended: None

Injured: Sensi, Vecino, Barella

On a yellow card: Vecino, De Vrij, Borja Valero, Gagliardini

Reports suggest Barella should be back for the game and may even start.

Weird Roma lineup, Cristante as a CB? Kolarov played as a CB against Verona so if he is not injured I guess he will play there. Although gazzetta have him as a bench player for Sunday, so may be he is tired or something. Not exactly a youngster..

With Smalling and Fazio injured and an inexperienced Ibanez and a midfielder (Cristante) playing instead, this Roma 3 man defence doesn't look great tbh.

I expect Spinazzola to be pretty motivated for this game in particular after his Inter medical controversy.

We are still linked to Dzeko, he scored a good header against Verona but missed a couple of goals.

As for Barella, don't think any player should be risked. No way should he start. May be 30 minutes in the second half. Gradual reintegration.

I would start with Brozovic, Gagliardini and Valero, personally. Candreva on the right, Young on the left. 3 at the back De Vrij, Skriniar/Godin and Bastoni

Sanchez and Lautaro upfront.

Eriksen and Lukaku on the bench.

Looks like Smalling will play

Report: Smalling to return against Inter
Football Italia

Roma defender Chris Smalling has returned to training and will, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, be ready for Sunday’s match against Inter.

The former England international could be back after almost two weeks out with a muscle problem in the right adductor, which he sustained in the 2-1 defeat to Napoli on July 5.

The newspaper reveals he trained with his teammates this afternoon and will be among the selected for the home game against the Nerazzurri this weekend.

A sigh of relief for coach Paulo Fonseca, who must cope without Federico Fazio, Davide Santon and Mirante for the big game. The trio went through another session of individual training today.

Santon injured, surprisingly..

That reminds me...Young told another player (maybe Gags) to "leave it" during a throw-in so he could take it. The commentator was saying that Smalling worked a lot more on his Italian upon arriving in Italy. Lol.

Smalling has been in Italy longer than Young tbf

Verona 1-1 Atalanta. Verona have taken points off the top 4 this season.

Yeah, I think the point was that Smalling adjusted quickly...likely did prep before arriving though. That's something Young didn't have time to do. So he teaches the boys English, lol. "Leave it" is very British too.

Can't fault Young much. Very tactically clever player, very effective since he arrived in terms of goals and assists. Very smart pro. He has had only maybe 2 or 3 bad games. If he was 3 or 4 years younger I'd say make him first choice. But realistically he will be back up next season to Palmieri / Junior Firpo / whoever.

Young's been excellent in every respect. Like you said, just too bad he's up there in years.

Now that you guys are praising Young he will suck tomorrow. Too much praise before a game could tempt the football gods to intervene in a twisted way.

Don't forget the Dybala dribble and Sassuolo penalty! And we lost points in both games.
