Romário close to breaking Zico's record
Vasco's Romário is close to achieving title of leading scorer in the Carioca Champonship for the seventh time, and will enter the record books as the player with the most titles. The current joint record holder is Brazilian legend Zico, who won the title six times from 1975 to 1982 for Flamengo.

But this is not the only one of Zico's records that Romário is on his way to beat. Zico currently holds the position of Brazil's second highest goalscorer of all time, with a tally of 701 career goals, behind only Pelé (who scored more than 1,000). But Romário's tally is currently at 664 career goals, meaning he has to score only 38 more goals in the rest of his career in order to take the position, and as he is currently 34 years old and has a couple more playing years left in him, this is not an unreasonable target - he's scored 35 so far this year.
