Ricardo Gomes took over the position from Ramalho. Then, São Paulo had a hard time before recovering its breath to compete again against the big dogs. In 2010 São Paulo lost again against Internacional at 2010 Libertadores Cup and Ricardo Gomes left out from the manager post, after this the young players Lucas and Casemiro started to play on senior team.
Olá,

Mr. Gomes has just been announced as the new Saudi NT coach, although I think Brazilian coaches have faired better than most in Saudi over the years, I'm very skeptical of another mildly experienced coach.

What's the view on him in brazil ?

Thanks :)

He's a decent and relatively young coach, who has shown some improvement and won the Brasilian Cup with Vasco (they didn't win in style if we're honest, but winning is still better than not winning)... however the news in Brasil about this invitation is that Gomes refused the offer.

On a profile of Ricardo Gomes published on Globo today, Gomes explains that he wants to stay at least until the end of the year, when the Brasilian league ends (but if he makes it to the end of the year it's hard to imagine him wanting to leave before the 2012 Libertadores, for which Vasco qualified by winning the Brasilian Cup).
