MONDAY:

At the Brazilian Opens early stages, Italian number 1 Filippo Volandri :) beat number 6 seed Felix Mantilla 6-2 6-2. Gausio eased through against Brazilian wild card Ricardo Mello and were also joined by the Spainards Montanes and Hidalgo!!!

In Marseille, Just 2 matches played and O Rochus beat Beck 6-1 in the third and Bjorkman bouned back from last week to beat Sluiter.

In Dubai, Kuznetsova showed her promise beating Schiavone the number 7 seed of Italy :( 6-4 6-4. Barna surprised Magui Maleeva with a 7-5 win in the third and Alicia Molik beat Vento Kabachi of Venezuala.

And in Bogota, Cervanova beat Garbin of Italy :( in 3and is joined by Falcon and Martinez Granados in round 2.

Deano do you know why Ancic, Ljubicic and Karlovic have not played lately, they haven't played in a week or two. Anyway Goran Ivanisevic is playing Clement which will be a tough match.

TUESDAY:

Starting the round-up off in Marseille, Clement beat Ivanesavic in a tough 3 set match 6-2 6-7 6-4. Marat Safin enjoyed a comfortable ride through winning 63 64 against Canadian qualifier Mayer. Gonzalez, Nieminen, A.Martin and Sargsian also went through!!!

In Brazil, Tommy Behrend gave the upset of the day when he beat C Moya 63 63. While Kuerten went throuhg in 3 tough stes against Oscar Hernandez. Calleri eased through and young upcoming star Gasqeut of France joined them among others intot he 2nd round!!!

In Dubai, Mandula tore apart Dokic 61 62 and Dokic poor form continues!!! Sugiyama went through as did Martinez, Shaugnessy and Nicole Pratt!!!

In Bogota, Kurhajocova easily beat Adriana Serra-Zanetti of Italy 6-2 6-2 but her sister Antonella Serra-Zanetti went throuhg to the next round with a 62 63 victory. Castano and Medina Garrigues anmong others also joined them!!!

And I dont know why the other Croats arent playing recently, some players take longer rests after the Aussie because they dont get much rest between end of season and the aussie. Im sure they will be playing again soon!!!

WEDNESDAY:

In Marseille, Coria, who travelled from Buenos Aires to play in this event, continued where he left off in Argentina with a good win over Davydenko 76 63. Mirnyi beat Pavel 75 in the 3rd in a great match. The main shock came when Ferrero lost to Frenchman Carraz 63 in the 3rd. Too many 3 setters for Ferrero. Saulnier was another Frenchman to make way for the 2nd round!!!

At the Brazilian Open, Kuerten beat Gasquet in straight sets and continues as favourite for this event. Qualifier Squillari upset fellow Argentinian number 7 seed Gaudio 76 63 and continues good form. Calleri, Acasuso and Chela of Argentina also made their way through to show the impressive strength of Argentina tennis.

In Dubai, Henin and V Williams made safe journeys through to the next round. Capriati was the main shock when she lost to Danilidou in straight sets to be eliminated at the 2nd stage but Myskina, Sugiyama and Martinez all advanced.

In Bogota, young Croat quali Papadic eased through against Ant. Serra Zanetti. Emile Loit won 62 62 over Gallovits to advance. Harkleroad was the biggest surprise when she lost to Sainard Marrero 64 76.

THURSDAY:

ROund 2 in Marseille chalked up a few surprises, firstly with Coria (king of clay but not carpet :tongue: ) going out to Rosset in straight sets. Safin also going out to Bjorkman 76 75. Clement made it through against ROchus in 2 tie-brekers and Mirnyi beat French wild card Saulnier 64 64.

In Brazil, the quarter finals and Kuerten advanced once again against the in form Squillari 36 75 75. Calleri beat Chela in 3 tough sets in the battle between 2 Argentines!!! With another Argentina, Acasuso going through to the semis and joined by Luis Horna of Peru!!!

In Dubai, the big shock came when Venus Williams was dumped out by Kuznetsova 62 63 in the qaurters!!! Shaugnessy also shicked Myskina in 3 sets as the inconsistent American showed the better side of her!!! Henin smashed Martinez 60 61 and was joined by Sugiyama into the semis!!!

Round 2 in Bogota, and Emilie Loit had 2 tough sets before dumoing out Domingeuz 64 in the third. Carvanova also taken to 3 before going through. Zulaga eased through with a doubal bagel 60 60 in her home country!!!

FRIDAY:

In Marseille, just 1 seed was left standing when Max Mirnyi and Fernando Gonzalez both went out. Mirnyi lost to Domink Hrbaty 63 76 and Gonzalez lost to Swedish young star Robin Soderling 76 63. Arnaud Clement was the only seed left standing as the 7th seed beat Albert Martin comfortbaly 63 62 and is the only Frenchman left. Bjorkman joined the semis line-up with an impressive 75 63 win over Guillermo Coria's conqueror Marc Rosset!!!

The semis in Brazil had an all South American feel about them. With Kuerten being the only Brazilian joined by 2 Argentines and a Peruvian. In the first match, 4th seed Calleri was pushed all the way before sending out Luis Horna 61 in the 3rd. While in the main match, Kuerten impressed his home followers and emphatically beat Jose Acasuso 64 63.

In Dubai, Kuznetsova once more impresssed after a 6-0 demoltion first set against Ayi Sugiyama, the Japanese star pulled back in the second but still lost the set 75 to go out. The other semi contained a powerful Henin Hardenne who beat Shaugnessy 64 62 and is once more in another final!!!

The quarters in Bogota had an interesting all Colombian match between Aussie Open semi-finalist Fabola Zuluaga and Costano. Zuluaga eased to win 63 60 to reach the semis. Emilie Loit joined her with a battling display and a 62 win in the 3rd over Conchita Martinez Granados. In an all Slovenian battle Kurhjocova beat Cervanova and Sanchez Lorenzo joined them to the semis!!!

Hey, Im suppose to do this :tongue: I do it every morning the next day, I will still include it in my round-up but I suppose no harm if anyone else says it :cool:

Henin indeed is a fine player!!! Kuznetsova at least gave her a match unlike others!!!

SATURDAY:

And In Marseille we saw 19 year old Robin Soderling woop Arnaud Clement of France 63 63 and reaches the final while showing his abilties!!! Hrbaty stopped it being an all swede final when he beat Bjorkman 76 63. Hrbaty v Soderling is the final!!!

In Brazil, Kurten v Calleri was stopped due to rain as the tie was evenly balanced at 1 set all and 1-0 Kuerten in the third set!!! Play resumes today!!!

As previously said, Henin went on to win yet another title with a 76 63 win over 18 year-old Russian Kuznetsova in a gritty match from Henin!!!

In the semis in Bogota, Zuluaga reached the final in her home country with a tie-break win in third over Kurhajcova. She faces Sanchez-Lorenzo who upset Loit 75 62.

SUNDAY:

The unfinished match-up inBrazil saw kuerten go on and win the title in his home country with a 63 win in the final set.

In Marseille, Hrbaty came back from 1 set down to win 64 in the third in a good battle and Hrbaty now has the most wins on tour so far this year!!!

In Colombia, another home country win, this time for 1st seed Zuluaga who battled through 3 sets and won 62 in the final set over 2nd seed Sanchez Lorenzo and a good win for what is a great season so far for Zuluaga!!!
