Referees anger rocked Juve

Tuesday 8 February, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus are refusing to panic after two consecutive losses but the club have begun to question some refereeing decisions.

The Bianconeri remain top yet they have seen their lead slashed from eight points to just two in 180 minutes of football.

"We’re still first and therefore the team to beat," stated director general Luciano Moggi. "A dip can occur but I see nothing to be alarmed about."

However, Moggi, whose club are often cited as allegedly receiving favourable refereeing decisions, believes the men in black have contributed to the Scudetto chase.

"When an official is in doubt this term they simply decide to blow the whistle against us," Moggi argued.

The transfer guru then spoke specifically about the penalty incident in the Milan-Lazio match after Jaap Stam fouled Tommaso Rocchi.

Moggi believes that the Dutchman, who was booked, should have been dismissed in a game that the Rossoneri eventually won.

He said: "You all saw the pictures, why should I comment on them? I thought it was a certainty…"

Moggi has also taken a swipe at his own goalkeeper after Gigi Buffon commented on the title situation.

"Milan may technically have more than us and a better bench but we have other characteristics to win," said the No 1 from the Italian training camp.

"We need to take a bath in humility and not hope in gifts from others. We need to start playing games from the first minute."

Moggi responded: "Buffon would have been wiser to just talk about the national side."

Yeah, that's certainly an unfamiliar situation for Moggi. Well, it will be a good lesson for him. Now he knows how Juve's opponents usually feel.

Stam should have been sent off against Lazio. It works both ways my friends.

About the referees, well I don't know why Moggi complains about it, its a lame excuse...

What really worries me its to read what Moggi says to Buffon, to me Buffon said only the true, and Moggi should see the reality and see that the problems that Juve have in this moments are problems cause by Juventus not by referees...

I agree with Buffon 100%

Oh come on, he didn't do anything so bad, he only kicked the attacker in the ribs with his foot...hmm, to think about it, maybe you're right

Isn't it a BIT hypocitical moaning about the referees when your rivals receive one decision in their favor when your team hs already received like 20? Just wondering...

What? First he badmouthed the referees and now he's praising them as characters who will make them win the league? Moggi make up your damn mind!!

But seriously he should just shut the hell up. If he wants things to get better for everyone then install foreign referees.

Please, the man can say anything he wants. Galliani or Berlusconi would probably do the same.

Moggi disagreeing with Buffon is his way of saying that Buffon should shut-up and do his work. Moggi knows Buffon is right but Moggi is saying Buffon shouldn't say stuff like that to the media.

If I was juventus I wouldn't be complaining after the excellent run you have with refs, against Cagliari I saw slow motion replays of camoranesi butchering and no yellow yet others were.In various games Juve had rather noteable decisions go there way.

Of course he can say whatever he wants, it's a free country. ;) Doesn't mean he's not an extreme hypocrite and a total crybaby though. Milan gets ONE important call in their favour and it's suddenly a conspiracy against Juve. How pathetic is that?

I would just like to say that Stam's foul had no malicious intent and it looked like he was going for the ball. However Rocchi got there first. A Penatly and a yellow card looked liked a fair call to make.

I am not complaining, however I'm sick of this "Juve always gets all the calls" nonsense, especially since Milan seems to be getting the calls lately. Like I said it works both ways, thats it.

No it doesn't work both ways,Simply Juve get far more of the calls and dubious decisions. You may not think so,But clearly you can see it.

Sorry but you are wrong. There are many instances where it works both ways, including when your city rivals should have went down to 10 men after Toldo brought down Zalayeta in the box, being the last defender. We lost two points because of this fallacy. That, among other occasions which would take too much time to discuss, are reasons why it works both ways. You should not be that easy to jump on the opposing bandwagon, but it's your opinion afterall.

What opposing bandwagon, look more closely at the games and you will see.Against Milan 2 clear penalty calls knocked back, against Bologna the same thing,The goal against Cagliari was so far offside it wasn't funny.Do you want me to keep going on,Juve are blessed with the referees help and it's so bloody clear.
