A season is over, it's time to think in the future.

Who must go? Who must stay? What should the club change? Who should come (try to be realistic)?

This is a thread to see your proposals for the future of the team.

First things first, we need new coaching staff. Guys that will make the players work themselves into the ground like they did before. With the right coaching team, this squad exactly as it is could win the title easily.
I agree with you and I must admit that I'm a bit worried about giving Guardiola the job. I adore this man, but I don't know if this is the right moment for him, since he has zero experience. I'm sure he'll be full of illussion, but sometimes this is not enough.

At the same time, I think this team need to solve certain problems, but it's not that we have an old nor untalented team. I believe that we have a good base to start from and we must hope that the bosses are able to detect the problems and find the right solutions. Probably, 4 or 5 changes can do the trick.

Problem is, we need a guy who is proven, strong enough to make big decisions, knows the language/culture/importance of the club, and could do a good job immediately. I can only think of one available man who fits this profile...

You're lucky Koeman went for the dough and left for Valencia half way through the season.

Imagine if he had stayed at PSV and won another league title :D

He'd have been top of the shortlist for sure then :D

Its hard to make predictions with Txiki in charge of sporting stuff.

But if he wasn't there, and I was in charge of the sporting area:

Coaching staff:
Mourinho head coach, perhaps with Guardiola, Luis Enrique or Stoichkov as assistent. New fitness coaches, doctors and physios, with fantastic reputation.

Players in:
Daniel Alves (will suit our team, needed if Zambro leaves)
Michael Essien (we need tenacity in midfield as Deco leaves)
Rafael van der Vaart (he will give us more options in midfield and just behind the forwards)
Franck Ribéry (if Ronaldinho leaves, I think he's the only viable option who could possibly make us forget him)
Heurelho Gomes (he wants to leave PSV as he is on bad terms with their chairman, best goalkeeper in Europe)

Crosas, Valiente, Thiago, Gai

Players out:
Deco, Zambrotta, Thuram, Edmílson, Ezquerro, Ronaldinho?

I would personally keep Ronaldinho if we can't get 40 million for him. Maybe a new coaching staff will bring him back.

New management, I think everyone feels the same about that.

And strengthening the bench, with: a striker who can head a damned football, a midfielder who is good at tackling and long distance shots (drawing the opposition from their turtlish, defensive shells) and a tall defender for when we face teams with aerial threat (Edmilson had his uses, or is that a touch pushing it?).

Who must go?

Ezquerro, Gudjohnsen, Thuram, Edmilson, a new Assitant coach and the whole medical/training squad!

Why? Because Rijkaard is a genious pshycologist who understands the players and know how they think, his tactical ability is however really poor so a new tactical coach is necessary. The medicalstaff is beyond any salvation, we're always drawn with massive injuries and the finger can only point in the medical/training-staffs direction.

Who must stay?

Everyone exept these ones, I believe in patiance (eventhoe I as a person have none) and if we manage to give them time then I can see a new team being buildt that will have a good foundation.

What should the club change?

Well, the above.

Who should come (try to be realistic)?

Dreamsignings: Seydou Keita, Ceasar "Chelito" Delgado/Nery Castillo, Fernando Cavaneghi, Daniel Alves, Samir Nasri, Christian Paulsen, Caceres/Garay. And then promote Gai Assulin

Why? I believe that our squad is too small, we have to few players in many positions and we're suffering for that when competing in three competions. We need more speed and greater agility, and anger. We need more people up front with better dribbling sqills who can pass the ball and be "Messi-like", for that I consider signing "Chelito" Delgado from Lyon (Would be really cheap, since he's not playing much) or Nery Castillo from Shaktar Donetsk. Dribbling masters and real number nines, if you saw Copa America you'd know Nerys potential, if you saw Argentina in the olympics of 2004 you'd recognize "Chelitos" Capacity, he killed every oppositions together with Tevez.

On top of that we need a center back that is young and good, Garay and Caceres are.

That's my idea...probably not Txikis, but anyhow:

Visca el Barca :frustrat:

You don't have to be strong enough to make big decisions at this point. If you ask anyone tonight, they'd back anyone who fire them all. Noone is untouchable anymore.

We need the ones who are able to make the proper changes. We need a kind of Rosell. Someone who is able to make good signings, as cheap as possible.

I don't think we need "stars". We already have "stars". I'm sure that the club can be driven by Messi, Eto'o, Iniesta, Puyol and a even a recovered and focused Deco (why not). We need to find that kind of "middle-class" that can make the difference.

At the end, our main problem is that the late signings didn't fill the space left by Larsson, Belletti, Gio, the old Marquez,...

We need to find a TEAM. We don't need demagogic signings like the one of Henry. We don't need names, we need players with talent that want to grow with us. We need a team.

As I said, this team has problems with confidence, motivation and illussion. We obviously have problems in certain positions, but it's time to keep the head cool and act in the right way.

Expanding on my post, how about, Roque Santa Cruz, Seydou Keita and Alex for making a stronger bench? They won't be too expensive and given enough minutes I don't think they'd moan much.

In fact, we'd still have enough left over to sign Lahm or Alves or whatever.

Edit: yeah, K4 is 100%, we need to sign Larssons not Henrys. Just honest, hard working players who understand their roles in the team.

If Valencia were to relegate, they will surely have a sale, who would you try to sign from them?

Sunny, Albiol, Alexis, David Silva?
And David Villa...

Banega for sure! The man maybe a pornstar, an alcholic but he's also a genious on the ball, he and Messi could make alot of people in the world cry their eyes out.

They won't, but if they do, I'd go for David Silva and Albiol for sure... and if Eto'o is sold (I hope not!), David Villa. In any case, Valencia's economic situation is beyond worrying. Marcelino refused their offer when he knew that their stars are on sale. Someone versatile in the midfield and attack like David Silva should be in our list.

We desperately need full backs. Daniel Alves should be signed tomorrow, if possible. I do notice that he has his usual defensive errors, but there's noone like him in the world. Another full back is needed too.

We also need to reinforce the creative and the defensive midfield. We only have Xavi, Iniesta and Toure. I still have a little hope for Deco, don't ask me why, but I still believe in his recovery. In any case, we really need to reinforce these positions.

We probably need a new central back and a bench player for the attack.

Banega? Nah. Too much of the same thing. Keita, Poulsen, Casquero, Zapater, Aimar!? I don't know, anything that's different, that adds balance to the squad, a unique element currently missing in the overall puzzle.

Probably the Euros might give us a few ideas, and hiked prices naturally.
