The tournament to select the teams to play in the Champions Cup is a very even affair so far. Goias, Sao Raimundo-AM and Vitoria-BA are playing for just two places in the competition, which will be held in Joao Pessoa and Maceio in July. With only one game left in the triangular series, all three teams still have a chance of classifying for the Cup. The winner automatically earns a spot in the Libertadores Cup 2001.

Sao Raimundo drew 2-all with Vitoria in the first round in Manaus and the second leg was also a draw. Playing at home Vitoria drew 1 - 1 with Goias. Goias and Sao Raimundo play in Serrinha, Goiania at 20h on Friday (29/06). The winner will classify.

Vitoria has played all their games and has to sit and wait for Friday’s result hoping that it does not end up in a draw. If there is a clear winner, Vitoria is guaranteed a place with 2 points and three goals. Sao Raimundo have one point and two goals and Goias two points but only one goal.

A rather curious situation may develop if Friday’s game is a draw, as classification will depend on the number of goals scored.

Vitoria and Sao Raimundo will classify if the game ends in either a scoreless or 1-all draw. If the game ends up 2 a piece, Sao Raimundo automatically classify on goal difference and the remaining spot will have to be drawn between Vitoria and Goias. Any other draw will guarantee Goias and Sao Raimundo the two remaining places.
