The Captain allegedly commented on Owen as stated at this site:

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=328866&cc=5901

I don't know the context for the comments, but they seem rough given that Owen's been one of RM's most efficient players this year. I don't recall ever hearing of any of RM's current top players calling-out each other. So why start with Owen? Hmmm. Any thoughts or context explanations from anyone?

This article is bullshit. Don't believe it. Raul won't ever talk like this about a teammate. Besides, take a look to the article, it says: "Raul told the Sunday Mirror...". IMO, it's just the usual crap of the English tabloids.

I'm sure that he didn't point Owen directly, he could have said this in general, for everyone. Actually if he said so, he's right, if Owen wants to leave, let him go... it's silly to have a player like this benched all the time.

I don't know if he said it or not, because Diario Sport isn't so trustworthy for Real Madrid news, but he does name Owen directly in their quote...

from the link I gave above:

It's weird... a newspaper that quotes another newspaper that maybe quoted another one... after so many quotes, it's easy to manipulate the exact words.

Well, I don't really rate goal.com (it used to be soccerage, remember?)

This story is everywhere, I was not sure if he had said it, because all it takes is one website to put up the story and the rest fall in line... some say that he told The Mirror, some the Brazilian press, and some Sky Sports, so if he DID say it, it must have been at a press conference... But even BBC has it on their site, and from reading the articles, and the quotes (somne of which have more than others), it seems that he did say it...

thats usual here in GER. do you know that kids game where one whispers something into anothers ear and it goes round and in the end something totally different comes out? LOL. Thats the press! Especially when it passes language boarders. In the end you get just crap.

I can remember of 2001 when RM again played in munich german (crap)paper Bild came up with an interview with Raul and a lot of germans actually believed that. Something very arogant (which was right for Bild to use it to heat up for the match), but something Raul would never say. In truth hes never given them any interview. They only made it up.

actually when an agency put that wrong you have it wrong everywhere. Sometimes here in Germany they come with news on RM that i never heard of, although i check Marca/As and rm.com on a daily basis. Sometimes i think these guys in the agencies just dont have a spanish dictionary and guess what it means and sell them as news. I cant believe i actually believed that crap but i had no choise. Now that i understand spanish i get what a difference spanish and german news for example makes.

Well the press is the same, actually its even more crazy in england, doesnt need to go over an agency, if one paper has it the other ones write it off from that and the next from another... guys get real, thats todays journalism. Sad but true. Noone goes to raul to ask him if he really said that.

I read the article till it came to "Raul told the Sunday Mirror"....
There's no league game this weekend, need to sell the paper.
Write something to make people buy it. Usual for English tabloids.
The story spread everywhere and it probably came from the same source.

Pinkfootball: Raul told Sky Sports...
sportnetwork: no reference at all, assuming hes told them
foxsport: Raul told sunday mirror...
football.co.uk: Raul told the Sunday Mirror...
bbc.co.uk: no reference at all, assuming hes told them
skysports: no reference at all, assuming hes told them

well we all know that avoids (as much as he can) any interviews not to talk about saying all the same to half a dozen (at least) different papers. 2 possibilities:

- a press conferrence, but how come that spanish press wasnt invited? And not any word stands in rm.com? Also usually at press conferrences its usually more spoken than just 3 sentenses...taken out of context?

- an (english) agency news (as relatively serious papers have it too, like bbc) ...and all variations of where they have this from

The English Papers .... Doozy .. Sheesh ....

As Spielberg once described his disbelief towards the English papers, by reiterating that when he heard that Kubrick passed away (at the time), he thought it was the usual sick "macabre" joke implanted by the English tabloids .. until people told him, in person, that Kubrick indeed was dead, hence this instance I am giving you is a fair idea on how the "astute" world (and myself) perceive the "English" papers; as extremely facetious, disingenuous and mendacious baloney, therefore I believe this is entirely made to make Raul look like an impish ‘bad-guy’ against the saintly patience of M. Owen .... It is beneath Raul, who carries the burdensome emblem of Real Madrid on the weight of his shoulders 24/7, to put himself in such a vulnerable position against the British press. Hence it will be ‘sacrilegious’ against his “Madridista Leader” persona. Personally imagining Raul saying that just gives me the do-do creeps ... and I do not believe a single word this newspaper print has reiterated, not because of my partiality towards Raul, but through my complete disregard for the English tabloids and the conniving press.

P.S. If you do not like what I am saying, Take it as a personal opinion (if you wan't to).

P.P.S. :hangover: Thesaurus Vomit.

El Mariachi says: "Hala Madrid"
