What position does Gilberto normally play? I remember hearing good things about this Angolan when he moved to Egypt, but I've never seen him play. Is he a left winger or midfielder?

With El Ahly, he's a left winger.

He's one of the best foreigners in the Egyptian league, certainly one of my favourite players all together.

How old is he? Is he ready to make the move to Europe?

Sporting is in the market for a left winger. ;) Not to say they've made an offer, but I was wondering if Gilberto might be an option.

Gilberto is 22 years old only. I doubt Ahly will let him go without a fight. His contract was going to expire by the end of this year, and he was about to sign for a Turkish team, but Ahly stepped in with a massive deal and in the end he renewed his contract for 3 more years (if not more, I can't remember).

So you'll either have to give us a really good deal :greed: or we'll happily keep him for 3 more years. I think if we were to sell him he'd go for at least 2-3 million dollars. He currently starts for the Angolan national team.

He's the best left winger in Egypt at the moment.

Well I doubt that would happen.

Angola will surely make it to Egypt 2006, and we all know the huge number of scouts who follow this tournament in search for cheap (Gilberto won't go for cheap though ;)) and exciting African talents.

Not to mention that they're -Angola- currently topping their World Cup qualifiers group, so Gilberto may actually play in the World Cup. :proud: If Angola do make it to Germany, I'm sure he won't stay with us after the World Cup finishes. Unless Angola get humiliated, trounced, smashed and crashed and no one notices his presence in the first place. :D

Thats true. But then we'll happily sell for a lot of cash, well, provided we can find a replacement for Gilberto.

Abo Mosalam and Abdel Wahab are decent backups, but no where near Gilberto. I don't think anyone in the Egyptian league is, and we'll have to worry about this sooner or later because Gilberto isnt here to stay.
