So we open with a 3-0 win tonight, dominant for long periods against West Brom. Silva was excellent throughout, he's just simply class, his close control is unbelievable. Goals came from Silva via a Yaya shot he deflected, a fantastic Yaya shot curled in from 25 yards and finally a goal from a corner for the first time in over a season from Kompany.

So yeah, we looked promising for the season ahead, especially with Zabaleta, Aguero and Delph still to come in as well as de Bruyne possibly.

My god - how boring and ineffective was Bony? He really needs to step, he has had time to settle in since January.

In fairness he didn't get much of a chance to score because West Brom played with 10 men inside their own box, every attempt we had was charged down. I'm not saying he was fantastic, but can see some mitigation, and he was good as a focal point for the attack, holding the ball up and bringing Silva, Yaya and Sterling into the play. Pretty sure some of the touches he made last night Dzeko would have been chasing after his own first touch.

Scary start to the season but how do you feel about the idea of KDB joining Greeny?

If it's not broke, don't fix it etc etc

Klaus Allofs, the Wolfsburg technical director, has just said there is absolutely no deal in place, which means it is probably 99.9% done.

Even if it doesn't happen, are the fans upbeat about the idea, or do they subscribe to their own "if you fail in the EPL you are sh*t forever" logic, as used with Jerome Boateng?

KDB is obviously a very different case to Boateng, seeing as he got f**k all chances, but I get the sense that EPL people are sceptical about him.

In Germany people think he is the Second Coming....

Hi red, nice to hear from you.

I made a post about de Bruyne in the World Football forum but am happy tot make it here again.

Firstly I do not think he was a total flop here with Chelsea, just never really given a chance, although I also think he didn't show a lot of patience or realism during his time at Chelsea. I remember him signing and thinking he'd be with them for a long time and become a key player.

As I said in WFF, for me we put all our eggs into the basket of KdB signing. We sold Dzeko and Jovetic, meaning our strike force is now just Aguero, Bony and Ihaenacho, or Sterling filling in a striker's role. Once we made that decision, and our early line-ups show that we are only playing with one striker, we really had no choice but to pay whatever we had to for De Bruyne. The fact is by that point we were never going to pull out and had to pay whatever we needed to in order to bring him in.

De Bruyne's stats last season were unreal, and in the years we have won the league, 2012 and 2014, we have not depended on the form of Silva to win us the league, but on the form of his supporting cast. Nasri was poor in 2013 and 2015, and that cost us the league. We need to take the creative burden away from Silva. Some worry about them treading on each other's toes, but I've never seen Spain or Germany have those kind of problems with their creative players.

So ultimately I am very happy with the signing, and don't care what the fee was in the end, as long as we managed to finalise it rather than pull out having been £1 or £2 million away from agreeing and it costing us our season. Remember how we missed out on Martinez and Hazard in 2013 and ended up with Rodwell and Sinclair?

I think he's a super player

And look, I wouldn't necessarily see a problem with KdB and Silva stepping on each otehrs' toes, but Sterling AND KdB AND Silva seems like it could, potentially, be overkill

I might be proved completely wrong very soon though

How has Sterlin played so far?

Sterling has been excellent. Not scored yet, but his link up play has been fantastic and his pace is a real asset to the squad and our attacking play. All our best moves have come down the left from Silva, Sterling and Kolarov.

Looking forward to seeing Sterling-KdB-Silva-Aguero in action

Stunning attack really

KdB's end product is just ridiculously good at this stage

Just a case of everyone tweaking positions a bit before finding the right balance, as was the case with Neymar-Suarez-Messi

Can see them taking a little time to gel, but should ultimately be amazing to watch

I think Bony is doing okay, but he still doesn't look like a goal threat. Look at his goals, they've not been fantastic, usually on a plate for him. He still misses chances which Dzeko or Aguero would have snapped up.

At the moment Kelechi looks like a better option up front. His overall play is just more threatening than Bony.

Bony will come good, I gave him 6 months and from what I am seeing he is settling in nicely with the team with each passing game, yes he missed some sitters but every striker has that once in a while even Aguero who is solid in that aspect. Sterling is also getting more clinical, especially when you compare at the start of the season.
