Don't really understand the game versus Spurs' reserves, but found some nice opponents in Sporting CP, Norwich and Southampton in preperation for their European campaign.

Will try to make an overview of all Basque pro-clubs friendlies in the next days :).

Got mixed feelings about the Cardiff friendly. They used to be a traditional club but they threw all their traditions and history away when they got new Asian owners. They changed the club colours from their traditional blue to red, changed the badge and many more. They are in no way comparable with the old Cardiff City nowadays, it's actually a 'new' club.
In my opinion they can be compared with the Red Bull teams and for example Hoffenheim in modern football.

Meanwhile a friendly versus Numancia has been confirmed too, will try to post a list of friendlies from Basque top teams so far tonight :).

Hard to get conclusions for this game appart from watching Valverde's intentions for the positioning of several players in the pitch. Didn't watch the game but there were lots of praising to Morán's performance.

Juve won 7-0 and Llorente didn't score LOL

He will be a flop. Juve have CL and Serie A winning expectations. Llorente, like he always has, will miss key chances and score double digits only because of the chances created by others. I would not be surprised if Tevez and a new signing are starters and Llorente is a disappointment and looked to be sold on at the end of the season.

So a typical friendly match so far, not much excitement. One thing that was clear to me is that it was a sort of opposite problem in midfield compared to last season. Under Bielsa the defensive midfield was only covered by Iturraspe and we saw how many times we got outnumbered in that area from edge to edge of the sidelines. During this match the front 4 has been quite lonely and outnumbered by the opposition, one of the DMs has to make himself available to pass if we want to keep possesion that high up.

Now during the second half if anyone is watching, try to look at the similarities between Beñat and San José who will both be playing together. Unfortunately San José is going to be CB today. I think they are extremely alike as players, the only clear difference is San Josés more enduring physique and Beñats more sensitive foot.

For this 4-2-3-1 to work there has to be a somewhat telepathic understanding between the three central midfielders.

San José adds a bit of the physique and defensive work which Iturraspe contributes with but these players could work well together next year imo.

Beñat - Iturraspe
San José - Morán

Herrera
Galarreta
Iñigo Pérez

Forgot to mention that Galarreta made it 2-0 showing good technique in a tight area and finding the net.

In the second half we will see Saborit tried in the LW position, another good sign of Valverdes openmindedness, Toquero as playmaker and De Marcos as RW. Toquero and De Marcos together is not exactly the ideal opposition for any defence.
