The season is over and the anticipation of the new one mounts each day (remember MY country is not in Euro 2008).

So here is a thread to discuss 1.FCN's pre-season friendlies.

So far, dates provided by Der Club are:

11.07.2008 18:30 Baiersdorfer SV
15.07.2008 19:00 FSV Erlangen-Bruck
30.07.2008 19:00 Panionios Athen

I can also reveal that, according to the Plymouth Argyle website, we will be playing the English Championship team on Friday 25th April (in Austria I think but it could be in Nürnberg - I'll try to find out). Have a look at the Plymouth website story.

Damn, I am in Austria not far away from Kaprun from the 27th of July to 1st of August. I won't be able to watch the friendlies in Austria and not the one against Athens.

The tests against Birmingham, Plymouth and Steaua are quite good. That should be a standard gauge at which point our team is at the end of July.

Jon, take my team. :D I'm not interested much in the EURO right now. Only because of the Glubb...

Your team gets plenty of support in my house Audio... what with my wife coming from Germany...

I might have a little bet on Holland... The odds are quite good because of the group they are in.

And of course, I am betting that Jan Koller will be the leading scorer... It would be just about the final straw in our season!! (But at least we might then be able to sell him.)

hehe, yeah.. that would really fit into that season when Koller becomes top scorer. ;) :wallbang:

Oh yes, I forgot that your wife is from Germany, so your household has at least one team to cheer for. btw, how's she doing? Is Jon already a dad?

Holland, maybe. My bet was Croatia, but it seems they had their peek when they knocked England out in autumn. And I have a soft spot for Austria, as well as my brother. ;) It's nearly impossible, but I hope they make it past the group stage.

And then about Koller again. Yesterday he declared that he would play for us in the 2nd divison, too. Well, after that harsh anti-Koller actions after the BVB game I would have thought he would like to leave us, but at the moment I also think it's only a money affair.
And after Koller yesterday, Charisteas has followed him and said that he also would like to stay. "I don't have a problem with staying in Nürnberg, as long as the club wants it and we have a good for next season which will be able to promote."

Hmm.. I don't think both will stay or that the club wants both to stay. I'd prefer Harry, my dad Koller, my brother Harry.. the feelings are quite mixed about that.

Club beat Stoke City...

As a Clubberer and Port Vale fan there has not really been anything to cheer about over the last 12 months.

But today, just a small glimmer of hope and a faint smile crossed my lips (OK I jumped up and down shouting and cheering)...

Der Club 1:0 Stoke City...

My German team beats the big rivals of my English team. :)

At least we've won against Stoke in the important friendlies, am I right Jon. ;) I came home yesterday from my Austria trip, but 1 hour too late to get to the Getafe game. My brother told me afterwards about that horrible game. Again no goal, a lame performance... no good signs one week before the first official game.

Breska seems to have found his new position, that completes our solid defense. Goncalves with a few slight problems, but I think he will get rid of that soon.

The "attack". Well, please make another move on the transfer market. Unfortunately I think we will have to get something from a Saenko-transfer first. :(
