> Major League Soccer's first Portuguese native player, Carlos Semedo,
> fortifying the team's defense for its 2002 MLS Championship run. The
> central defender, who is categorized as a transitional international will
> not count toward the Revs three-man senior international roster pool.
> Semedo started his playing career with Portuguese first
> division team Clube de Futebol Estrela da Amadora at the age of 18, before
> being transferred to Vitoria Futebol Clube Setubal where he played from
> 1995 to 2000. The 5-10 central defender was acquired by Campomaiorense of
> the Portuguese second division (2000-2001) before joining Imortal
> Desportivo Clube (2001- February 2002).
> The Lisbon native, who conquered the 1998 European U-18
> Championship playing for Portugal has also been part of the under-20 and
> under-21 Portuguese national teams.
