Porto are set to launch a bid to sign Barcelona keeper Vitor Baia on loan for another season.

Vitor Baia, who performed impressively in Euro 2000, lost his place at Barca after the arrival of Ruud Hesp, and spent last season on loan at the Antas Stadium.

With the arrival of Richard Dutruel over the summer from Celta Vigo on a Bosman Ruling free transfer, Baia's future seems increasingly certain to be away from the Camp Nou.

Porto president Jore Nuno Pinto said he would be in contact with the Catalan club "to make a last attempt to secure Baia's services for another year."

Last season's Portuguese runners-up will hope that the situation is resolved by early August when the Champions League campaign begins.

If Baia returns to Oporto he will have to battle with Sergei Ovchinnikov for the number one jersey as the Russian keeper joins the club this summer.

DRiver X, what's the latest on this? I just this morning read that Barca is now offering Hesp for sale.
