With Eibar on their way to Primera and Alavés on their way to safety things are not looking too bad in Segunda. There's one more Basque club trying to reach Segunda. It's Sestao River who want to return to Segunda after having disappeared for 18 years! Sestao won the title yesterday and need to beat fellow champions Albacete in two games!

Promotion to Segunda (winners enter Segunda)

The losers of the playoffs above enter the losers' round which mean they still can qualify for Segunda, they'll join one of the two groups and need to follow the long and difficult way to promotion. Let's just hope Sestao can finish it off versus Alba.

Last two teams go up to Segunda too.

Promotion to Segunda B
As for this it's somewhat more difficult. Also here all champions will face another champion. The nine winners go up to Segunda B. The Basque participants are:

Varea (Rioja) - Leioa
Izarra - Cornellà (Catalunya)

Leioa won the 'Basque' group, Izarra the Navarran one. San Juan, a small Navarran club, were the only Spanish team to remain unbeaten untill the very last day of the season. Yesterday they got beaten by Osasuna's reserves. Izarra won 1-7 and came equal in points and also their goal difference was equal with San Juan's. If I'm right they're crowned champion because they scored more goals (59, San Juan got 57). Izarra scored 14 goals in their last two games...
How harsh and unfair can it be to lose a title?

Remainder:
The teams placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th enter the difficult way. Basque participants in the first round are:

Osasuna B - Yeclano (Murcia)
Alavés B - Teruel (Aragón)
Pontevedra (Galicia) - Portugalete
Mar Menor (Murcia) - San Juan
Europa (Catalunya) - Mutilvera
Jerez (Andalucia) -Arenas

Nine losers out of the champions group and twentyseven winners out of the group above make 36. They'll meet eachother whereafter 18 are left. Out of the last 18 the 9 winners will go up.

No, the Segunda season finishes after the Segunda B playoffs start so Las Palmas B will play. Then if Las Palmas does not promote, Las Palmas B rival in the playoffs will benefit from it.

Leioa made it to Segunda B, congrats! After having beaten Varea 1-4 they did beat them 3-0 at home.
Izarra are playing tonight next to Espanyol's stadium.

So Sestao twice screwed up a two goal lead. The match finished 2-2 which means Alba advance to Segunda on away goals. :groan:

Sestao will get a second chance but need to beat two teams to go up now.

As for the other results, in brackets overall score:
Leioa - Varea 3-0 (7-1)
Cornellà - Izarra 3-2 (4-3)

Other results
Yeclano - Osasuna B 2-1 (3-2)
Teruel - Alavés B 3-2 (4-3)
Portugalete - Pontevedra 1-2 (2-3)
San Juan - Mar Menor 1-0 (1-0)
Mutilvera - Europa 0-0 (0-1)
Arenas - Jerez 4-0 (4-0)

Not a really good round. Leoia made the promotion to Segunda B. Izarra lost and will get their second chance like Sestao one level higher.
Osasuna B, Alavés B, Portugalete and Mutilvera will stay in Tercera while Arenas and San Juan advance. San Juan really deserve it to go up while Arenas crushed Jerez and who knows where they'll end up.
Three teams still in the race!

They should be able to finish it off at home! Do you know if there will be a new draw if they pass or is it already known which winner they'll play in a possible final?

As for the promotions to Segunda B. Only Izarra, San Juan and Arenas were left. Their results:

San Juan - Mérida 0-1
Arenas - Gimnástica Torrelavega 0-0
Orihuela - Izarra 2-0

Pretty bad results for the Navarrans. A bit sad for San Juan, Izarra don't deserve better if you ask me. They're likely to meet again next season in Tercera, that's going to be 'nice' matches probably :D.

Arenas still full in the race for a spot in the final.

Sestao yesterday night lost 1-2 at home to Nástic and they're out now. Despite their title they'll remain in Segunda B.

Arenas got drawn versus Trival Valderas, a club from Alcorcón close to Madrid. They were founded in 2004 when two clubs merged and never yet played in Segunda B.
Arenas for the last time played in Segunda B during the 1979/'80 season. Therefore they played 32 consecutive seasons (except one) at the third level which was back then called Tercera. Of course Arenas are founding members of La Liga's highest level where they played in during 7 seasons.
Aupa Arenas, up back to glory I'd say.

As for the Navarrans, they both got eliminated and will face eachother once again next season in Tercera, which is especially harsh for San Juan I think.

Mirandés will play in Segunda this season since Murcia has been relegated due to debts.
