Thordur Gudjonsson didn't show up at the first training of his team Racing Genk. He wants a transfer to Las Palmas in SPain and has reached an agreement with the club. However, the 2 clubs can't agree on the transfer so Thordur is still a footballer of Genk. But he won't show up because Genk doesn't let him go.

This is again a typical example of the so called "pro-footballers"
They can earn more money somewhere so the club should let them go immediately for a low transfer fee. When Genk don't accept the fee of Las Palmas Thordur will go via the court and because of a stupid law in Belgium the player can leave if he pays 6 months of his salary to the club . We are the only country in Europe with this rule and it sucks.

Last year Collen did the same with Gent when he wanted to Vitesse. Has anyone ever heard of Collen again ? No, he didn't played and was loaned out to another team were he will play now because Vitesse sold him. IF he stayed with Gent he could have played and improved but he has choosen for the money and see what it brought him...

Back to Gudjonsson now, because of the law GEnk will have to do agree something with Las Palmas because otherwise they will loose a lot of money on him. Most players are only out on the money and it ruins football !

Belgium should do something about this law and footballers should change their attitude !! (This isn't really apropriate for all footballers but a lot.. )

i agree totally. belgian soccer is going through a hard time and it are laws like this (how is it called, the law of 78?) that will eventually kill it. if this isn't resolved, in 10 years we will have to go to holland or france if we want to see a decent game of football
