It's difficult not to start a short summary of this match without referring to Liedson's feat. After staying almost one month without scoring, even if during that period he was fundamental in practically every positive aspect of his team's game, he returns with a spectacular poker reducing Belenenses to dust. This was the first time in his career that he scored more than 3 goals in one match. Hopefully a good omen to what comes until the end of this season, both at club and NT level.
The first half of this game showed that Sporting was still riding in the good waves that made us kick Everton out of Europe and Porto out of the title. We dominated the first 45', were robbed of a clear penalty (Beto's clumsy challenge on Liedson) but were unable to do what seemed unavoidable and what Liedson ended up doing four times in the second half.
The entrance of Saleiro for the place of Djaló at half time, brought more power and more clarity upfront and that was decisive on the first goal that ended up killing the resistance of the hosts. Saleiro himself should have scored a second soon afterwards but he hit the post and even set up a third that was brilliantly finished by Moutinho but once again we were robbed as the goal was wrongly disallowed.
Another great result (the biggest of the season), a very positive and inspiring collective performance gave us a third consecutive win with an impressive 10-0 on the score sheet.
