The last game of Sporting's terrible series of three heavyweight matches in the space of one week will kick start in less than half an hour at Dragão.

It's hard to know what Sporting will show up tonight. The superb team that completely dominated Benfica one week ago or the pathetic bunch that crumbled in front of a very average Bayern.

The absence of Vukcevic due to injury may be a key negative factor against us, being the other the usual fact that when playing at Dragão, we will always be playing against 14 men.

However we still have a few aces up the sleeve, being the most valuable of them all, the skinny baiano that is owing some to Heltonzinho. :excited:

Here's the official starting XI fielded by Paulo Bento...

Tiago
Pedro Silva - Carriço - Polga - Grimi
Rochemback
Pereirinha - Izmailov
João Moutinho
Derlei - Liedson

Subs: Ricardo Batista, Marco Caneira, Tonel, Adrien, Romagnoli, Yannick Djaló and Rodrigo Tiuí.

FORÇA SPORTING!!!

Very even first 25' but what a great chance wasted by Izmailov!

As it seems to be a habit in our last matches, we lose a player too early. Grimi twists his knee and Caneira replaces him as LB. There goes our already depleted left wing. :rollani:

Very ugly foul by Lucho on Derlei there.

Sporting should've scored by now, they're the better side so far and Liedson has had plenty of chances.

As for that foul by Lucho on Derlei, I thought it was a bit unlucky as Derlei slipped a bit when he was trying to get passed Lucho and he just catched him on the ankle, that hurts like hell.

0-0 at HT

I thought the ref was only going to whistle for half time when Porto would eventually score but by the look of things that wouldn't happen anyway.

Very hard fought game with too many unnecessary fouls by both sides and also quite a good share of dives with Hulk being undoubtedly the king in that department - such a big man and such a poofster.

Anyway, the truth is that although Porto had more ball and seemed to be in control, it was Sporting who created three clear goal chances and should in fact be ahead in the score. I just hope we keep defending as good as we've done so far and with a bit more coolness and less falling around, we can get our precious win out from this pit.

0-0 FT

Very patchy second half of an overall poor game from both sides. Sporting kept defending very well in this second half never letting Porto's most dangerous players get even close to score but on the other end we were almost non-existent in this period.

Too bad we didn't kill them off in the first half but all in all we're still up there in the title race as I can very well see Porto, and Benfica, dropping points in what there is left to be played in this league.

Some fatigue and the fear of seeing Porto run away with a 7 points difference inhibited Sporting in the second half. In the end it's a fair result.

If you mean that having in mind the goal chances that we've wasted then I agree but if you are talking in general without taking into account what happened on the pitch tonight then I can't agree with you in any way.

Porto missed the opportunity of winning the league right now by wasting a golden chance of beating both their opponents in the title race. They did it by showing their obvious limitations, which include a lack of creativity in the attacking midfield, holes in the defence that didn't use to be there in the last three seasons and their worst handicap...that toothless muppet that thinks he is a great coach.

Well but they are 4(5) points ahead of Sporting ,plus 2 more than us who can be 3 in the end.

If they pass atletico they will struggle to have a fit team to compete in three fronts, their bench sucks but will Benfica and Sporting win all theirs game?of course not......

Yes, it's not easy for us, and even more for Benfica, to win all our games but it will all depend on the way Porto will be able to cope with the pressure of being in three fronts with such an overall weak squad.

If they crumble like they did two seasons ago, I honestly think that it will be us and not you, that will be laughing at the end.
