MILAN, April 28 (AFP)
Piacenza coach Walter Novellino claimed bias against small clubs like his had contributed to the 3-1 defeat by Inter Milan which leaves his club in danger of relegation.
Novellino was fuming at the decision to send off Vincenzo Sommese and Brazilian Da Silva Matuzalem which reduced his team to nine men also claimed his team should have had a penalty with the score at 2-1.
"Maybe Italian football is made like this," said Novellino on RAI TV's Stadio Sprint programme. "At the end it is always little clubs like ourselves who pay."
Aware that he might be banned from the touchline from Piacenza's last match with Fiorentina he said: "I don't discuss the (performance of the) referee, he did his duty. But it is a defeat we did not deserve."
