Simple, is it worth losing Pele to secure Quaresma?

Poll please, curious to see what everyone thinks.

I'm personally sick of this whole Quaresma fiasco and as much I wanted Quaresma to join, I'm not very keen on losing Pele.

Pele is going to be world class, I'm sure of it.

Rarely have a seen such composure from a central midfielder of Pele's age. He integrated into the top club in Serie A seamlessly and never looked out of place. Young super-talented center/defensive mid's with the composure of Pele are a lot tougher to find then talented attacking players such as Quaresma.

Sure, Quaresma is also special, however there are many other attacking players out there Inter could have signed while keeping Pele as well. I would have rather bought Menez for 12-14m like Roma did or broken the bank for Arshivan, Diego etc then lose Pele for Quaresma.

This going to come back to haunt Inter. It's going to be another Pirlo, Seedorf, Bergkamp, Roberto Carlos type transfer and all of us going to be sick to our stomach when PdC sells Pele for 20m+ in few years time.

For once, Inter's scouts find a young talented player at an obscure club, buy him for peanuts, he turns out good and what to we do......SELL HIM!?!

Have we become a club that needs to sell their top young talents in order to raise transfer funds?

Not worth it IMO

It is worth it seeing as creativity is our #1 problem. We haven't had a midfielder like that in..well..ages. Look what signing a special player like Zlatan has done to the club.

Pele is a DM, a position where we have Cambiasso who still has 2-3 seasons left in him (if not more) and the 24 year old Muntari. Pele's good but if we don't have the cash to convince Porto, then you have to sacrifice. It's rather selfish to to be stingy AND keep the one player Porto want! In a perfect world we would've paid 10 mill and offloaded Crespo and Vieira to Porto but that's not how it works..

let's not jinx it though. :hopeful:

Sure it's not worth it! How can you even consider giving Pele, the best player in history for some Portuguese diver with a weird haircut?!

Oh, you meant the other Pele? Sorry. :)

I added a poll and think you are overrating Pele a bit...but I also think if Moratti can give nobodies like Suazo huge wages, he should also break the bank to go Mourinho's picked players.

it's worth it...but like N4L and fifa president said, it is easier to find a great DM than a great winger...there are always many great young DMs available than wingers...but i hardly think there are many great young wingers...i trust mourinho...if he thinks it's worth it, he'll do it...and i will support him and respect his decision...

Valid arguments, however IMO we should still hang onto young-Pele

Anomander sums up my feelings on the issue; stop nickel and diming, buy Quaresma outright and and keep young-Pele.

In the long run it will be worth it.

Also I'm not overrarting Pele. Three really players stood out for me at the U-20 World Cup last year...Di Maria, Banega and young-Pele. The former 2 are worth 15m these days, whereas Pele is still vastly undervalued.

He is going to be a star.

Now I've seen it all.

Even Carson is supporting the exodus of one of Inter's most promising young dudes. :groan:

Ricardo Quaresma has talent to be almost, if not more, deadly then Ronaldo as a winger.

He has a thick skull though, however, The Special One is the only Jedi master in the world that can train him to fullfill his destiny:thumbsup:

it would be great if they just bought Quaresma, but I guess that will not happen. RQ7 will help Inter Milan win Right NOW and not later. Pele can not help Inter win right now. In a perfect situation it would be great if we could keep both. However, if they must sell Pele to get RQ7 then it is worth it in the short term, and what matters is right now. Inter have one of the best teams in Europe and the best in Italy (3 scudetto's in a row). They must improve even more though and to do that they need another winger to complete the Mourinho formation

So yes it is worth it, we are improving our team right now and we want to win right now as well.

Definitely worth it for the short run (up to 3 or 4 years) because RQ is the type of player we need NOW.

As for the long run, nobody will know. Due to the media pressure, the long term success of an attacking-type player is always less certain than that of a defense-type player, so I wouldn't be surprised if RQ loses form in the long run and has to be sold, while at the same time Pele becomes world class. Also, as an expensive signing, RQ runs the risk of falling into mercenary syndrome, whereas if we keep developing Pele and push him to his potential, he will be pretty dedicated to our club. These are all valid concerns, I think, but RQ is the player we need right now, so "yes".

in this order of priority,

1. Quaresma in, Pele Stays. :star:
2. Quaresma in, Pele-Loan.
3. Quaresma in, Pele Sale.
4. No Quaresma, Pele Stays.
5. No Quaresma, Pele-Loan.
6. No Quaresma, Pele Sale :yuck:

It was necessary. I would have liked pele to go on loan instead of a sale. But for me RQ is more important.

We still have bolzoni who is similar to pele so no real worries.

Look everyone here seems to be sayin its worth it but just remember this people

Whenever cambiasso is injured we suck ass

Pele is the only player with the class in midfield to step into cambiasso's boots

To release him is ridiculous

We could have offered Suazo and Crespo and Stankovic and Materazzi for Quaresma

It always amazes me how narrow minded so many of us are. We dont have a substitute for Cambiasso. Sure we can all hope that stnakovic does well there. But Pele has done well ther eon many many occasions. Releasing Pele is silly as hell. he will b Porrtugal's midfield general and Portugal's Pirlo if he is developed properly

yo Tazz, you are right to say without Cambiasso, we WERE playing Badly.

Now that Muntari comes in... and the system's backup DM in Stankovic fullfills.

The 3 forwards can manage what seemed dull before, with Stankovic or Figo connecting the strikers. This 3 Mids can concentrate in their positions differently from last time.

Only Vieira is a concern... me thinks.

I disagree. Bolzoni is inferior. In fact I see nothing special in Bolzoni. He won't be here for long, another Beati.

Cambiasso missed almost the entire of 06/07, yet this didn't prevent us from bitch slapping the league. For one, he missed the 2-1 derby win (Fatnaldo; Cruz, Zlatan), didn't prevent us from owning Milan. Let's not be too extreme. He's a hard working player who gives his all and pitches in with the odd goal or assist, but we can manage even without him. And we did suck ass, be it results-wise or performance-wise, with him on board. That's why I don't like bold statements or extremes like that.

Why should Porto want our finished 30+ year olds, they're from Portugal not Qatar..

Sometimes I feel that people come here to vent and vent only. Chillax. :D

Honestly, if Quaresma does arrive I can have no complaints about our mercato, even if it's still bitter not to sign Deco and to a lesser extent Lamps. But two young players and a Serie A proven player who isn't 33...and on top of all a dream coach.

How's he a concern? :D he doesn't even count. Anyway, we do have enough depth even without Gramps and Pele. Zanetti played infront of the defence and it worked, Stamkovic has done it before is doing it now, Cambiasso, Muntari and Dacourt. Oh, Chivu as well. This summer we'll replace Vieira and Dacourt with 1 player, that I'm certain of. Probably an African dude, perhaps we could bid for Obi Mikel who I rate quite highly from his days with the Nigerian U-20 side that lost to Messi's Argentina in the final of the YWC.
