Actually football is not the most favorite game in Philippines. Basketball is their #1 sport. In fact, (no offense) Phillipines NT are one of the worst side in South East Asia. So, having Paulino Alcantara played in Barcelona is absolutely magnificent story :strong: :star:
To becoming the clubs leading scorer of all-time, it's just makes us Asian fans very very proud. :star: :proud:
I bet he is the one and only Asian ever played in Barça.

Official FC Barcelona homepage (URL: http://www.fcbarcelona.com/team/playerbiography.sps?languageid=9&isGreatPlayer=true&playerid=3990&newsarchivesubmit.x=12&newsarchivesubmit.y=12) :

Alcantara has gone down in FC Barcelona folklore not only for his immense talent and skills but also for the fact that he is the all-time leading goalscorer in the club's history. Eventhough blessed with a far from imposing figure the inside-left made use of his natural goalscorers instinct scoring goals with ease.

Paulino Alcantar was born in Iloilo in the Philippines on 7 October 1896. He first played football in 1910 when he came to Barcelona to study. He was good enough to join the club's junior team. After leaving University he returned to FC Barcelona to play for the third team.

He made his first team debut on 14 August 1912 at only 15 years of age in a match against Sabadell to mark the installation of a new set of floodlights at the Estadio de los Arlequinados. The match finished 8-2 to Barca with Alcantara grabbing a hat-trick. Between 1916 and 1918 he returned to the Philippines to play for local outfit Bohemians Manila but then travelled halfway across the world back to Spain to play for his beloved Barca.

Alcantara will be best remembered for two historical landmarks he set. The first of those was on 20 May 1922 when he scored the first ever goal at the Les Corts stadium while the second, on 30 April of the same year, saw him rip the goal net with a thunderous strike from 35 yards out in a match between Spain and France. This earned him the nickname 'romperedes' [net breaker]. In 1927 he left FC Barcelona leaving behind a phenomonal record of 356 goals in 357 matches played. He also became one of the club's most decorated players winning five Spanish Cups and ten Catalunya League Championships.

After he retired from playing he became a club director betweem 1931 and 1934. Paulino Alcantara died in Barcelona in 1964.
