must win? probably for the coach

samp have no strikers available so we will have a whole lot of midfielders to play through

paloschi out so 2 from biabiany crespo and bojinov up front i'd assume

time to think positive again, i predict 1-0 or 1-1 biabiany for us:)

Forza Parma

Parma - Sampdoria
Stadio Tardini

Parma must take this opportunity to end their crisis, as Sampdoria come into the game without any strikers.

The Blucerchiati have both Giampaolo Pazzini and Nicola Pozzi serving one-match bans after their fiery 0-0 draw with Inter last week. Antonio Cassano has still not recovered from injury, so the only available forward is teenager Stefan Scepovic, who hasn’t yet made his full Serie A debut. Stefano Guberti could be pushed up in a supporting role, as Samp hope to continue their run of four straight wins and a draw.

If Gigi Del Neri’s men aim to ride that wave of consistency, then Parma seek a complete change of direction. They have lost three on the trot by conceding six goals with only one in reply. The 1-1 draw with Inter was a blip, as they are without a victory since the 2-1 over Bologna on December 13.

Just two points from nine games has seen them plummet from European candidates to seven points clear of the relegation zone. “We have no intention of changing management,” insisted President Tommaso Ghirardi after putting the team in a pre-match training camp.

The mood in the Ducali camp was not helped when Christian Panucci rescinded his contract by mutual consent this week. It was rumoured the defender had a personality clash with Coach Francesco Guidolin, but the club insisted it was purely a personal matter meaning he had to return to Rome. Alberto Paloschi and Blerim Dzemaili are injured, while Luis Jimenez sits out the final round in his two-match ban for insulting a referee.

Jonathan Biabiany and January signing Hernan Crespo are expected to start upfront, although Valeri Bojinov is pushing for a place too. The absence of Jimenez could prompt the abandonment of the trequartista tactic entirely, instead packing the defence that can turn into a 3-5-2 when needed.

Sampdoria had never won at the Tardini in Serie A before 2006-07, having registered five draws and seven defeats, but have now notched up two victories in as many visits. This fixture was not played last season due to Parma’s presence in Serie B.

Keep an eye on: Jonathan Biabiany (Parma) – The 21-year-old striker perhaps lacks a little sharpness in front of goal, but his explosive pace causes endless problems for opponents. He has already scored three times in this his debut Serie A season and creates opportunities for his teammates.

Last five in Serie A: Parma (L D L L L) Sampdoria (W W W W D)

Last season: Not played

Parma (probable): Mirante; Zaccardo, Dellafiore, Lucarelli, Paci, Castellini; Valiani, Morrone, Galloppa; Biabiany, Crespo

Sampdoria (probable): Storari; Zauri, Gastaldello, Lucchini, Ziegler; Semioli, Palombo, Poli, Mannini; Guberti; Scepovic
------------------------------------

I was going to say this is a must-win. Then I remembered that in 2007-2008 I used to say this before every game and it was no use back then.

The bolded part depresses me. They have no strikers and we might play 5 defenders

Yeah, Samp being without Pozzi or Pazzini is massive for us. And they were terrible last weekend as they couldn't break down Inter with 2 extra men from the 30th minute. If we don't win this, I would be VERY worried, for our sake and Guidolin's.

If Guidolin plays 3-5-2 against a team with no strikers then I don't want him on our bench no more.

Yep, every website is quoting the following team:

Mirante
Zaccardo - Dellafiore - Lucarelli - Paci - Castellini
Valiani - Morrone - Galloppa
Biabiany - Crespo

It's an EXTREMELY defensive team. I'm with Dean on this. I can't understand why we wouldn't play a 4-3-3 against a severly weakened Samp team.

Looking forward to seeing Crespo's home debut.

I'm going to the match! :)

I hope I can bring a bit of luck to the team... :D
I'm very jealous. Have a great time! Are you staying for a few nights?

Why do we play with literally 9 players behind the ball against a team without Cassano, Pazzini and Pozzi? Ffs..

looking forward to crespo's home debut too, I agree however that we should be playing a more offensive team. Bojinov, Biabiany and Crespo upfront would be scary.

In any case, hopefully we can capitalise on Sampdoria's weakened side.

Line ups

Portieri: Mirante, Pavarini

Difensori: Dellafiore, Lucarelli, Paci, Zaccardo

Centrocampisti: Antonelli, Castellini, Galloppa, Lunardini, Morrone, Valiani, Zenoni

Attaccanti: Biabiany, Bojinov, Crespo, Lanzafame, Pasi

No Panucci as he ****ed off and left us mid season, the disloyal careerist traitor. Paloschi and Dzemaili still have long term injuries.

Nice to see several attackers in the squad, particularly Pasi. I suspect we'll start with Biabiany and Crespo upfront.

I want to see the following formation:

Mirante
Zaccardo - Dellafiore - Paci - Lucarelli
Morrone
Valiani - Galloppa
Biabiany - Crespo - Bojinov

But I very much doubt Guidolin would even consider this....

An article on Gazzetta suggests we could play like this..

Biabiany - Lanzafame
Crespo

or

Biabiany - Bojinov.

Sportsbook24 seems to think it will be 3-5-2, Antonelli and Zenoni on the wings and Crespo-Biabiany upfront. If this is the case I think I could cry....nine men behind the ball against a team playing 4-4-1-1 with no available forward.

Have some ****ing bottle Guidolin!!

I expect this to be 0-0 and me calling for Guidolin's head after this. I hope that I am wrong.

Our line-up

Mirante
Zaccardo - Paci - Dellafiore - Lucarelli

They play with serbian striker Scepovic in attack, Mannini will play behind him...kind of 4-4-1-1...

I am SURE we will win today!!!
