Two replacements for Amauri (along with the emerging Cavani and injury-free Miccoli):

Budan seems to be returning, as Parma will likely give up their half share one way or the other.

Túlio De Melo has been signed on a free transfer. He was a decent talent at Aalborg, but Palermo material? We'll see...

Zampa says they need a skilled midfielder and that a bid could be made for Matuzalem with Zaragoza down. Very good player, though I don't know if he has EU-citizenship?

He says also that a goalkeeper will be bought. The name Fabio (Cruzeiro) has been mentioned elsewhere though he's definitely a foreigner (the reason why Corvino didn't sign him). Amelia is another obvious candidate.

Finally, there's talk of Nocerino and Lanzafame coming in as part of the Amauri deal - the young striker in a co-ownership.

-------
Loan deal to be made permanent: Balzaretti.

Possible returns: Pisano, Dellafiore, Bovo.

Def. out: Amauri, Zaccardo, Brienza.

Possibly out: Barzagli, Bresciano, Simplicio.

I believe Balzaretti IS permanent member of the squad already. I'm curious how will Palermo's defense look like without Barzagli and Zaccardo.

Palermo should try to sign players like Canini or even Coda from Udinese, who could well be the next Barzagli.

Cannini is really a hot prospect.

Arianna (I think) says Coda is shit.

Palermo signed this 18-old dane Simon Kjær from FC Midtjylland for €4m:eek: after he'd played in Coppa Carnevale. I know very little about him. Seems a weird gamble. Not quite as stupid as Reggina's Stadsgaard and Tullberg move, but still...

Nocerino is all set to go south:

Anyway, Bovo and Dellafiore might still return.

Well Coda has had awkward games, but everytime I see him for the Azzurini he stands out... he probably needs some time, like with most defenders. I still think a good signing for a club like Palermo. Obviously if Bovo and Dellafiore return he is not really needed. Dellafiore is ok, but I think Coda is better.

Outside of Daniel Agger, Simon Kjær is the brigthest defence prospect Denmark has had in at least 10 years. It is quite frankly one of those steals I wish my club would attempt once in a while.

Congrats to Palermo fans. Wait a year and you'll see.

Are you sure about that, Glen?

Simon Kjær must've showed something extraordinary at the Coppa Carnevale because quite honestly, what I've seen from him in the Danish League he has been pretty avarage. Which is of course impressive for an 18 year old but nothing that merits a label as one of the best talents in the last ten years.

Daniel Agger, on the other hand, just beat the crap out of everyone from day one when he came up from the youth ranks.

Not saying Simon Kjær doesn't have talent. I just haven't seen it.

Hard to see what this Palermo team can be next season... maybe something like this?

Amelia; Raggi, Canini, Rinaudo, Balzaretti; Nocerino, Cigarini, Simplicio; Lanzafeme, Budan, Miccoli.

Rinaudo is on his way to Napoli, it seems.

... and Jankovic, Cavani and Liverani would get start-11 space, imo.

For the attack, I think Floccari might join.

Anyway, a host of players will, seing as there's money now in circulation.

Yep ignor Cigarini... Liverani will be that position.. jankovic and Lanzafeme will fight out one spot and Cavani and Budan the striker position. In defence could be Bovo or Dellafiore.

Raggi is a better central defender than right back. Though he is one of those players who can go either way he can stay where he is and fade from promising to mediocre or he can improve and establish himself as a very good Serie A player. Right now Palermo is treading water with him as a replacement from Zaccardo.

Considering the season of Palermo, its better for them to renew and buy players who have the potential to be very good... so sometimes a risk is needed.

It is a good move for Palermo, I was actually hoping, For Raggi's sake, that Fiorentina would buy him--I have a lot more faith in them developing players than the circus that is Palermo.

Well Palermo did develop some very good players for italy, and indeed had, what 4 members of the last Italy World Cup squad, so we cant be too harsh :pp

I sum the real situation:

Transfers: Amauri, Barzagli, Zaccardo, Rinaudo.

Arrivals: Kjaer, De Melo, Raggi, Nocerino, Lanzafame, Liverani.

Pending negotiations: Amelia, Abbiati, Floccari, Budan, Bherami

Probable departures: Guana, Caserta, Bresciano

Well obviously losing the best forward and defender is not nice, but there have been some decent arrivals too. I think you need a very good D and forward to still arrive as yet though.
