Like every year, the world cup for youth club teams is played in Viareggio and we are part of it. I wouldnt have expected too much since we are playing pretty poor in Primavera this season but looking at our squad we may have some chances, but we are in a tough group unfortunately...

Our squad:
1. GATTI Carmine Biagio P (10.02.1988)
2. MATTIUZZO Filippo D (07.03.1987)
3. CHERUBINI Mattia D (04.03.1988)
4. MANDORLINI Matteo C (22.10.1988)
5. ROSSI Marco D (30.09.1987)
6. SICIGNANO Pietro D (03.02.1988)
7. PORTIOLI Alessandro C (25.02.1987)
8. CIGARINI Luca C (20.06.1986)
9. PAPONI Daniele A (16.04.1988)
10. DEL SOLE Salvatore C (27.05.1988)
11. PIN Mattia A (17.02.1988)
12. CORRADINI Eros P (17.02.1989)
13. FERRATO Mattia D (05.08.1989)
14. BERNARDINI Alessandro D (21.01.1987)
15. CARAFFINI Michele D (23.07.1988)
16. CARELLA Catriel C (26.07.1988)
17. GALLI Niccolò C (16.09.1988)
18. MORETTI Federico C (28.10.1988)
19. TAGLIAFIERRO Alfredo A (22.08.1987)
20. MARTINI Paolo A (23.07.1988)
21. LORENZINI Pietro A (17.03.1989)
22. CHIARI Emanuele P (18.02.1989)

As you see, we have players like Rossi or Cigarini that normally play for our first team.

Our group:

Parma
San Marino

Results:

Milan - Leichhardt Tigers 5-0
Parma - San Marino 2-0

Details on our first match:

Isn't it weird that players who are regularly called up or even play for the first team like Cigarini, Tagliaferro, Rossi and Bernandini do not start for the primavera?

By the way, is that tournament so important that the first team will have to do without Rossi and Cigarini?

Wow this tournament is cool.

I shall keep a close eye on it.

My two youth picks.

Salvatore Del Sole and Mattia Ferrato (because he is the youngest player in the team at 16)

How many teams are in this competition?

Thanks for that Djet.

We should be able to beat Leichhardt Tigers and as we have beaten San Marino would that qualify us for the knockout stages or do only 1 team go through.

Well there are 12 groups, divided into A (group 1-6) and B (7-12).
We are in group 7.

In every group the winner will go to the next round.
The 2 best 2nd teams of A and B will go through too, so if we dont win against Milan we will probably have to look for the 2nd spot and we have to be better than the other 2nd placed teams from groups 8-12.

Milan 3-1 Parma
Aubameyang 10., Ardemagni 15., Di Gennaro 24.; Tagliafierro 53.

Just a few things I noticed:

-) Our keeper Gatti sücks IMO. He seemed so unsecure and he didnt even seem to care a lot about that game.
-) Mattiuzzo (RB), who played in the Coppa against Inter was the worst man on the pitch. His wrong pass for the 2-0 was a gift to Milan and he is so slow in 1 on 1 situations.
-) Our central defender Caraffini looks like Savi :D
-) Matteo Mandorlini is really ugly :D
-) Salvatore Del Sole has a good left foot, plays with number 10 on the left side and has good technique. He has to improve in terms of velocità di gioco (?) but he has quality.
-) Daniele Paponi was not too good
-) Tagliafierro scored a nice goal and showed some technique when doing a nice "rabona" in the 2nd half. He came on for injured Portioli.

Anyway, we played our last match yesterday:

Parma 2-0 Leichhardt Tigers
Paponi 1., 84. :star:

Pin - Paponi

Del Sole - Moretti - Mandorlini - Tagliafierro

Ferrato - Caraffini - Cherubini - Mattiuzzo

Corradini

Carmignani has listened to me, he played with Corradini in goal instead of Gatti :D

Haha, I live like 30 minutes from Leichardt :D
That makes two of us!!

I have a soft spot for APIA. Good result for the Tigers!! considering their coach almost got in a fight with the 4th official in their last match

Is he blond, with long hair, not too long though?? :) I saw some young player arrive with the Italy U17 a while back in a match in England, and he was the only Parma player in that Squad. I think he is from Napoli, but I am not sure :jester:

He was quite good, the one I saw, but just a little bit slow :)
