Can anyone explain to me why we only have one decent left footed player on the Portuguese select team???

It seems to me that our best left wing was a right footed player who got injured-Simao. Our next best left winger is Rui Jorge. I know Figo and Conceicao can both play there, but asking them to generate power from their left foot is kind of like asking a Ferrari sports car to go off-dirt racing.

It seems that the second best Portuguese player in form for the left side is none other than DANI!

I know, I know! He's supposedly a cancer to any team. He's a playboy who's only responsibility is to himself. He couldn't last in any team. He's a drunk.

But Paulo Futre somehow has gotten inside his head. He's has had a career year at Atletico. They absolutely love the guy. He has been one of the few vital cogs that has lifted Atletico to the Primera. Much like Batistuta did with Fiorentina. Perhaps he has been humbled enough and is worth a shot. God knows the left side of our National Team needs a player of his artistic skill and powerful left shot.

Whatta ya say?

Red Eagle...it's funny you should mention Dani...i have been following how he's been doing with Madrid....by what i've been reading the last number of months, Dani has been one of their best players....i too have been thinking about him on the NT...it would be very interesting to see....

Not to mention that he'd make the ideal back up should Rui Costa not be available.

The tournamenet is a month away and Dani hasn't shown up anywhere near the selecao radar. I'm not going to argue whether or not he would be a good selection (I haven't seen him play in eons), but I think discussing his value to the team is rather moot.

HA! When Benfica moves to Foxboro as Asylum seekers you'll know who gave them the brilliant idea.

And of course Oliveira doesn't read my posts. He's too stupid.

Unfortuntately, I will have to agree with AXP in saying that this is pretty much a moot point. I had hoped Oliveira would have called him up for the Brazil, but to no avail.

If he does make the squad, it's probably going to be to replace an injured player. However, he's not the only option we have on the left....

Anyone here from Luis Boa Morte lately????
