Another Romanian Fencing (Scrima) Champion
This story is beautiful!!!!

La Havana, sabrera Dorina Mihai a luptat in finala impotriva chinezoaicei Tan Xue, cistigatoarea editiei trecute a competitiei.

Campioane mondiale in scrima romaneasca

1962 Olga Szabo-Orban floreta
1975 Ekaterina Stahl floreta
1987 Elisabeta Tufan floreta
1994 Reka Szabo floreta
1995 Laura Badea floreta
2003 Dorina Mihai sabie

"Esti nebuna, fata!"

Astea erau cele doua variante.

Apoi?
Au trecut optimile si, incet-incet, m-am trezit in finala.

Singurul reprezentant al Romaniei la floreta, Virgil Saliscan, a pierdut in turul 1 in fata japonezului Yuki Ota (13-15).

"Din toata lumea isi cumpara multe haine, nu-i mai incap in dulap.

Romania is a very tough group, probably the toughest: Australia (current world champions), Ireland (one of the best in the business) and Argentina (South American champions). There's also Namibia, who isn't very strong traditionally and who's having a lot of problems. They are the only team we're expected to defeat.

Nevertheless, I say: Hai Romania! :)

I watched it live. It was 3:00 am here when it started and it ended at 5:00 am....I just wanted to watch this game. I am proud of the Romanian Rugby team.
We were expected to lose, our Rugby is not even close to the Irish Rugby school, but we did quite well, and in some instances even created some panic to the Irish. Some of our guys are HUGE, and they got some pretty good hits too. I am looking forward to their next games. I also watched New Zealand vs Italy, and the All Blacks look fabulous!!!

I just love Rugby!:) Don't care about football anymore (not at this point in time).

OT: What sports other than soccer ?

Which other sports do you guys watch/play ?

I'm really into hockey too, HUGE Leafs fan, and have been since the very beginning when I came to Canada.
Losing to the Habs now, :( out of all teams.

Also enjoy watching tennis, both male and female.

Outside of that, I find basketball, baseball, and most other sports pretty boring.

When it comes to playing, I played for my HS soccer team every year I was there. Now in University and hope to play for them too.
I got to Carleton and we have a really good team, one of the best in the country.

I also play tennis too, and am good at it too.

So you guys ?

Thought this would be good to distract us from the fact both our teams are not gonna play in Portugal.

Ed, I'm pretty one dimensional. I used to do lots of martial arts when I was in college, but as far as team sports I just play soccer. I love playing soccer, and I get really upset with myself when I have a bad game..which is way too often nowadays

Ed, your thread (OT: What sports other than soccer?) was merged with the "Other Sports" thread since it was meant to discuss just this....other sportst.

Finaly, our Rugby team won today against Namibia 37-7 at the Rugby World Cup and finnished 14th out of 20 teams which is not that bad considering the financial problems our Rugby Federation had over the past years.

I expect an improvement by the next World Cup since The Romanian Professional Rugby League is re-starting in 2004 after about 15 years of inactivity...

What on earth happened in the 2nd half?! I've only seen the first half and we were great. 32-0 it was.
I recorded the game (it was 4:00 AM in Toronto when they played) and I finally got to watch it last night.
While the 1st half was exciting, the 2nd half was a circus, a complete fiasco, a comedy for both teams - I have never seen anything like it. So many errors on both sides
(Parca era bilci!!!). One team would grab the ball then drop it, the other team would pick it up, run with it for 5 metres and drop it again, and so on....It was the poorest display of World Cup Rugby I have seen this year, with numerous unforced errors and turnovers...
Final Socre 37-7

Anyways, I hope we'll do better at the next World Cup.

HENMAN HITS BACK AT CRITICS
Sunday 2nd November 2003

Tim Henman won his first Masters championship in straight sets, beating Romania’s Andrei Pavel 6-2 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-2) in Paris.

Despite the comprehensive win, Pavel made the British number one work hard for his victory, showing enormous courage as the Paris crowd rallied behind him.

Henman powered past Pavel in the first set by 6-2 after only 27 minutes, breaking his serve in the fifth game and wrapping it up with a series of clinical winners.

Henman broke early in the second set and despite Pavel’s best efforts, he could not match his opponent shot for shot.

The plucky Romanian regained his confidence as the second set wore on, with the crowd constantly cheering him.

The British number one raced to a 4-2 lead and looked to have the set under control.

But Pavel increased his workrate and broke back at 5-5, subsequently taking the game into a tiebreak with a number of decisive winners.

Henman finally prevailed, dictating his game plan over his rival and holding his nerve to win 8-6.

Both players matched each other in the final set, with few unforced areas and no breaks in serve so the game drifted into another tiebreak.

Henman moved into overdrive, powering past the Romanian with his trademark combination of serve and volley.

With Pavel looking tired, Henman finally put the game to bed and took the tiebreak 7-2 to claim a well-deserved Paris Masters title.
