Our water polo team lost to spain in the QUARTER finals of the fina world championship
Most of the teams are taking a bit more seriously. Savic gave the more veterans players time off from the NT this summer after they won the World League to qualify for 2020 Summer Olympics which was the biggest goal. As such, I think they are taking this experience step by step, and forming the team to win gold at the next Olympics as opposed to trying to find a quick win at these World Championships.

We fielded a relatively inexperienced side, and even though there were some veterans like Strahinja Rasovic, Dusan Mandic, Milos Cuk and Sava Randjelovic, the majority of the other players were being tested for next summer, to truly see who we can count on.

The players who weren't there include pretty much our best players: Dusko Pijetlovic, Andrija Prlainovic, Filip Filipovic, Branislav Mitrovic, Milan Aleksic, Stefan Mitrovic, Gojko Pijetlovic.

Outside of Dusan Mandic, the first four players that were excluded from the World Championship squad are pretty much our leaders in Pijetlovic (sidras), Prlainovic (plej), Filipovic (krilo) and Branislav Mitrovic (our first choice goalkeeper). In addition, Stefan Mitrovic is a very reliable left krilo who wasn't there as well.

Given the World League finals just finished in Belgrade at the end of June where we defeated Croatia 12-11 in the final, I'd say Savic once again used this tournament as a great warm up. As an FYI - only the winner of the World League qualified for the Olympics.

Given everything these players have given to the country, I'd say Savic did the right thing and he's getting us ready for something much bigger next summer to prevent the players from burning out, all of whom have a tiring season behind them and have a season coming up.

For all you baseball fans, Christian Yelich busted his knee cap and will miss the rest of the year. Yelich is the reigning national league mvp and most likely would have been the mvp this year too

Serbia win men's European Volleyball Championship with thrilling victory over Slovenia

Serbia have won the men's European Volleyball Championships after a 3-1 victory over Slovenia at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris.

Co-hosts Slovenia won the first set before Serbia fought back and eventually won the game 19-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-20 in just under two hours.

Slovenia were surprise finalists after beating world champions Poland in the semi-final, and also upset Bulgaria and Russia in previous rounds, and started well.

...

It also sees Serbia avenge their World Championship disappointment from last year, when they finished fourth and missed the medals.
