We always seem to have a thread for our b-ball NT heading towards major tournaments and with Duda picking his squad for the qualifiers this summer, I figured it was time for the next one.

Nice schedule, good chance to see some b-ball during the summer for those of us who will be there.

Top 2 qualify as well as the 4 best third placed teams.

Now give us your full analysis DZ and other experts. :D I see a fair number of younger players there like Nedovic, Musli, Andjusic, Jaramaz, Milutinovic, Lucic. Also slightly older newcomers in Dabovic and Jeremic.

Who's missing from the list except for guys like Milicic?

Novica btw very important for Real towards the end of the season. Good news for our NT as last year we missed him a lot.

At least we have a year to sort out our problems. To miss out on not just the EC, but the WC in two years as well could have been fatal for our basketball in the short to medium term.
Exactly. With how we played, we should feel fortunate that so many teams qualify for ECs in basketball. Fortunately, with our team...as long as we get the chemistry and fight back, I think we can beat anyone on a given day. But as these qualies showed...we can also lose to anyone. A healthy Novica, another center (have my doubts on Darko), and better atmosphere and we'll be good to go.
Congrats on qualifying.
What's the difference between 2nd and 3rd anyways - iirc the FIBA ranking is what matters anyways in the Euro draw, no?
It's the Eurobasket qualifiers record that matters.

Btw, the matches against Slovakia did not count in calculating the points for the third placed team so your media didn't report the correct information.
The teams that struggled in these qualifiers will do better than the ones that didn't.
Duda gave an interview where he is basically asking for Darko to give him a call and tell him he wants to play.

Let's hope Darko picks up the phone!
As I said, with Darko and Novica I'd be confident of a medal. It was an interesting statement from Dude, seems he hasn't closed the door on Darko and now even would like Darko to give him a call..
Finally some good news for our Basketball NT.

Uros Tripkovic is back after all the injury problems, and is playing surprisingly well. His absence from our NT in the last tournament has been one of our main problems. He is the best distance shooter we have, and we have struggled in this part of the game for a long time now.

It may be worth to mention that Nemanja Aleksandrov has some impressive stats in the Belgian leauge. If he only can stay injury-free he may get his career on the right way again and move to a bigger club and leauge very soon.

I think this is the best team we can have atm (I'm aware of that Milicic and Raduljica probably will not be in our squad):

TEODOSIC – MARKOVIC - NEDOVIC
TRIPKOVIC - TEPIC - RASIC
BJELICA - KESELJ – ALEKSANDROV
VELICKOVIC - MACVAN - SAVANOVIC
KRSTIC – MILICIC - RADULJICA

Bjelica has been playing quite well too as of late, hasn't he?
Yes, it feels like this is his real break-out season.

Milan Macvan was the best player in the Turkish derby between Anadolu Efes and Galatasaray.
Bjelica has indeed been tearing it up at Caja Laboral lately. Hope Tripko manages to come back, though it might be too late for that. We lack long-distance shooters next to Keselj and arguably Andjusic.
I saw Bjelica's last game in the Euroleague. He was brilliant!

Nedović is getting good minutes too.
So frustrating to see Zvezda shoot herself in the foot again with Nedovic :(
Almost all our NT-players are in good or decent form atm.

I'm confident that we will take a medal in this upcoming Eurobasket.

Only one thing worries me - what is happening to Novica Velickovic? He is still a free agent... and this is a key player for our NT, we aren't the same team without him.
Clubs don´t feel confident hiring him with all his injuries and whatnot. Hope he returns to Partizan, say about Vujosevic what you will, but he´s a good coach and could very well help Novica get back to his level.
Vojo you're forgetting Lucic, hes been our best player this season along with Bjelica and will for sure have a big role on the NT.

Milicic wont play, Savanovic is finished, Raduljica,Tepic and Keselj are not good enough and Aleksandrov is doing well in the Belgian league which is of very low quality so I doubt he'll be called.
I always felt as though Keselj was a player who elevated his game while playing for the NT. Also, I know many don't like Tepic, but Duda has said in the past that he is one of our most intelligent players, has he not?
Keselj has played bad for the NT for a while now, all he does is stand in the corner and shoot 3s, I had high hopes for him but it seems that hes content just being a spot up shooter. Tepic is a bench warmer for his club and a shooting guard that cant shoot, I don't see what he can add to the team.

Both guys have regressed a lot since 2009.
We are not even close to being medal contenders. Amazing how quickly people forget our last couple of displays.
