We always seem to have a thread for our b-ball NT heading towards major tournaments and with Duda picking his squad for the qualifiers this summer, I figured it was time for the next one.

Nice schedule, good chance to see some b-ball during the summer for those of us who will be there.

Top 2 qualify as well as the 4 best third placed teams.

Now give us your full analysis DZ and other experts. :D I see a fair number of younger players there like Nedovic, Musli, Andjusic, Jaramaz, Milutinovic, Lucic. Also slightly older newcomers in Dabovic and Jeremic.

Who's missing from the list except for guys like Milicic?

Novica btw very important for Real towards the end of the season. Good news for our NT as last year we missed him a lot.

Well first of all it's a shame we have to go through the qualification. :D

We will win the group, but it's still a tough one which means there could be some good games over the summer (vs. Israel and Montenegro).

That's a good squad minus Mile Ilic I don't know what he's doing there. Micov is the one name that's missing but he has an injury, also I would have liked to see Mijenovic there.

Is there anyone that was part of the last few squads? Marjanovic?

Will be interesting to watch.

More competition at centre now it seems? We definitely need it as I think it was one of main problems last year. In addition to the injuries of course.

I hope we work on our pick and roll defence as that caused us no end of problems.

Well, I'll tell you two positives: same team, same coach with a couple new guys
Apart from Teo n Krle look out for Novica and Nedovic
Savanovic and Markovic I like a lot
Musli is getting his opportunity to shine as I've always liked his interior game on both sides of the court

Bjelica and Macvan are two guys I expect to step it up and play bigger roles for us.

Overall, I think anything less than semis would be disappointing considering how long they have been together
Also, Krle and Teo will be formidable partnership
Nedovic is someone I expect big things from he needs to work on his game though

Keselj is nice to have as well cause he is versatile and athletic
Milutinovic might get the call up as well since his 3 point shooting is superb

Kind of disappointed with how our youth players are slowly progressing
Miljenovic has disappointed me the most. I had big hopes for him by now but we'll see if he can make it on the big scene he's gy immense potential
We have a good future in basketball as lOng as these kids continue to get the proper treatment and training

DZ Mijenovic is starting to reach his potential,, he's ripping apart the Serbian league and is expected to get his shot at Partizan next season.

Meh, maybe my expectations of him were/are too high but I already expected him to be playing for Partizan this season and slowly introduced to our A team.
Not as a starter but a reserve role kind of like Cvetkovic has behind Nedovic. Miljenovic is our only real NBA prospect that not a center at the moment. I just want to see the kid live up to his full potential because I believe he can be an amazing player one day. We will see how he does at the U20 EC. He was outshined by Cvetkovic while with the U18's last time. Even Micic had a better tournament than Miljenovic. I hate to be harsh on the kid but sometimes he's a little too extravagant on and off the court.

This would have been a perfect time for him to be called up to play the qualifiers against weaker nations and show his ability.

Anyhow, I have good hopes about EuroBasket 2013 as our team meshes together and they are all hungry for gold after many disappointments.

Disappointments

Though many players performed up to, or above, expectations a number of talented young prospects failed to make an impression. Some of that has to do with the stage they are at in their development, but it is also a result of the more experienced, athletic than average group they were competing against.

-1993-born Serbian point guardNenad Miljenovic struggled to beat his man off the dribble and maintain possession of the ball all week. Unable to keep his man out of the lane defensively, Miljenovic's lack of strength and athleticism limited his impact on both ends, and he'll need to continue improving to take the next step in his career.

He doesn't seem to be progressing the way I had hoped and many others had hoped

This camp was held this past week btw so VERY recent

BTW: He has also been moved from #1 ranking talent of 93 generation to #9

Duda has left Olympiakos. No news on him taking over any other clubs.

Newby will make the difference. It was his absence which really hurt the side last year. It's good to see Jeremic in the fold. I was wondering what became of him after that victory @ 2007 FIBA U19. Interestingly Ke$-money wasn't much of a factor that tournament, but look at what a player he's become. These youth tournaments are a decent guide, but they're never the last word on a player's career.

The good thing about this team is that they punch above their weight. It's nice to know that the coach will get the maximum out of the players. They are streaky, but once they get it going they can match anyone. It'll be interesting to see who makes the cut. I realise we're a little thin defensively however with the exception of Markovic I'd rather we did away with the liability-on-offence guys such as Perovic.

Velickovic, Perovic, and I think Markovic won't be playing in the qualifiers as they are all injured. I believe Rakovic and Raduljica are also out.
