it is a perfect squad, but it lack Christinival, he is a great defender in france team, and i think that leboef is weak this days, and iam sure that Chris will take his place...and i will pick:

----------------------------Rame

Thuram--------------Dessailly--------chris----------Liz

----------robert----------Viera---------------Djor

---------------------------Zizou---

-------------------Henry or Anelka---------------Trezeguet

OK here is my pick... :D

Goalkeepers
Barthez - Ramé - Coupet

Defenders
Thuram - Leboeuf - Desailly - Lizarazu
Sagnol - Chistanval - Silvestre - Candela

Midfielders
Viera - Zidane - Petit
Makalele - Djorkaeff - Micoud

Support Strikers/Forwards
Henry - Wiltord - Dugarry - Cissé
Trézéguet - Anelka

PS - I agree with Leboeuf's remark although it's not the U21 team since Landreau is 22. C'est l'équipe Espoirs. ;)

PPS - Emperor, the French NT plays in 4-5-1

There is nothing particularly wrong with that squad, except maybe a little room for improvement in defence. When Christanval got his move to Barca,i thought this is a great chance to prove himself on a BIG stage, but he has not been as good as perhaps he should've been...at least not yet.Although there is no mention of him,and so he has no chance for this WC,i have seen Gallas play for Chelsea many times this season - he first impressed me when @ OM - and he has been consistent all the way through, and unlike say Leboeuf he can run quite fast, and is good in the air.The 2nd centre-back spot is the only potential weakness i can see for France.Desailly will of course start, but the decision as to who will partner him needs to be made soon IMO.Oh,and i hope Micoud gets a chance to remind us of his talent too.:)

Anelka Out Of World Cup
News Archive

The Frenchman will miss out on his second straight World Cup (Allsport)
05/02/2002. Liverpool striker Nicolas Anelka will not be travelling with the France squad to the World Cup.

Roger Lemerre apparently decided to break the news to the former Arsenal star himself, when he briefly stated the reasons behind his decision.

It is thought that Anelka's poor display in his country's recent match with Russia was a major factor in the decision. The 23-year-old was jeered off the pitch by certain sections of France's 80,000 strong support.

looking at your sqauds, i noticed that france lacks wingers. i know that candela plays a whole wing but he cant play both. liza is good, but seriously, they are defenders.

i would like to see dalmat in, at least to replace pires. and why havent any of you chosen lamouchi???

rame
thuram christ desailly lizaruzu
------------vieira-----------
dalmat-------------------candela

---------------ZZ---------

-----trez------------henry----

but if there are injuries to candela, liz, thuram, you havent got great replacements.
