Olympiakos play Xanthi this saturday at Karaiskaki where we are undefeated in 14 matches this season.
The match is a difficult one, Xanthi havea very good team this season. Mantzourakis has them playing well.
Im worried our players will have their minds on the mid week match with Sochaux also and Bajevic will rest some players so this match is a very tricky and dangerous match for us .
If we play with the same commitment we did against Panionios after Pantos was sent off we will win this match.
It will be also interesting to see a couple ofXanthi players whoare rumoured to be heading to Olympiakos next season...Zambropoulosand Baikara.

Xanthi arn't the crappiest team ever but we have the quality to see us through. Lets see though, this could be a good match and more of a challenge than Panathinaikos.

Kafes is also in doubt for this match .
Bajevic is thinking of playing Kostoulas in the midfield in Stoltidis place and either Maric or Taralidis if Kafes is not fit.
Personally , Id like to see Maric take kafes placeand Taralidis take Stoltidis place. Its about time these younger plays got some play time.

Vallas will partner Shurrer in the centre of defence.

0-0 final score.
Xanthi playedfor the draw and got it, they were very well organised. We had 4-5 good chances in the 2nd half primarily with Okka but couldnt score. We continue to be in 1st spot

If Xanthi were going to cut points from us at home this was the match they were going to do it.
Apart from having a good team the season the fact that we had 4 players out and the fact that we played this match without any fans and the fact we have a midweek Euopean match all worked in Xanthi's favour.
Oh and the fact that Xanthi put 10 men behind the ball also helped.
We were very ordinary in the 1st half,a little better in the 2nd though.
At stages it looked like the players were training and only realised in the 2nd half that 3 pointsare up for grabs.
Im not at all dissapointed with this draw, it was going to happen sooner or later.

True, but don't most opponents use this tactic?

We looked poor for long patches in both halves. We did make some very good chances in the second half and with a better bit of luck, maybe we should have won. Unfortunately thats the way it goes sometimes.

I cant believe some of the comments i hearfrom sour graped players.
A certain Xanthi player named Sakis Prittas in post match comments actually complained about the officiating stating the refereees should respect his team more:rollani: :nono:
The officiating was ok in this match.

Σάκης Πρίττας: «Έχουμε παράπονα από το διαιτητή. Οι διαιτητές θα πρέπει να σέβονται περισσότερο την ομάδα μας.»

saw the highlights meself. OSFP had a few chances but just couldn'y put them away. Put simply it wasn't their day really.

Any thoughts on Okkas? :glasses:

Okkas has been unfairly singled out by certain media outlets ( like protathlitis paper) which have their own agenda's. For me he has been a positive aquisition to Olympiakos and he will only get better and whilst he misses a few chances and does not score as frequently as some want him too he has been a big help to the team. His workrate is second to none and he has a good dribble and speed on him and he creates things.
Today with Xanthi some media described him as "moiraios paixtis" but this is unfair. He missed 3 chances 2 of which were very difficult half chances which he nearly made into goals ( one was a glancing header, the other a volley ).
He did miss one chance though which Ribo set him up but the keeper made a fantastic save....thats how football is.
I think Okkas has scored something like 6 goals for us this season....some people are talking about Gekas who is top scorer but he has scored 7 times from the penalty spot.
If Olympiakos let Okkas take the penalties also he would also have more goals.
One things for sure, id take Okkas over Gekas anytime.

Look, I like Okkas from his PAOK days, but this year he's been nothing but PATHETIC in front of goal. He has missed so many easy chances... Especially in the CL. He's a useful player, but defending his scoring record this season is simply ridiculous. He's without a doubt the biggest goal-misser of the league bar none.

Dokkas. :D

This is so true... The Deportivo game stands out the most, specifically that 1 on 1 with the keeper he could have easely lobed yet decided to shoot it right at him.

Agreed :\

:dielaugh: :nono:

Anyway, i hope AEK can capitalize on this slipup, and cut OSFP's lead down to 4.

Wasnt you calling him a ''palto'' about a month or so ago?

Yes, It was that was the nickname he had at AEK ;) and that was going by what other commentators were saying.
But having seen many matches hes played in Ive realised the guy puts in 200%
Okkas even in his PAOK days only averaged 10 goals per season, hes not an out an out striker , Even Alexandris in his early days at Olympiakos missed many chances in front of goal.

Matchday 18 :- Olympiakos 0 - 0 Skoda Xanthi

Matchday 18 saw Skoda Xanthi come to the closed G.Karaiskakis Stadium and try their luck in front of the 'Erythroleukoi".
Xanthi set up a defensive wall for this match and hoped to gain a point in this match. Unfortunately, they were able to meet this task and Olympiakos, who couldn't manage to penetrate the wall, will view this match as a case of 2 points lost. Also lost was the record of 15 consecutive wins at home this season.
A limited set of available midfield options found Kostoulas in the central midfield alongside Rivaldo however he performed well in both halves before eventually being substituted in the 88th minute for Taralidis. Unfortunately both Giovanni and Rivaldo had quiet games and chances from the pair were not as forthcoming as could have been expected. An effective performance from Mavrogenidis on the right and Georgatos on the left saw many attacks being built but no effective finishing was found. Okkas in particular, missed chances after finding his way into the box but generally managed a reasonable performance.
Olympiakos did not score through lack of trying though and Xanthi pressure was limited in both halves. The best chance for Xanthi was a last minute counter-attack by Garpozis who missed the target anyway. The draw still sees Olympiakos in first place in the tables with Panathinaikos now being in second place 5 points behind.

Referee :- Kakos (Kerkyra)
Yellow Cards :- Antzas, Luchiano, Papadimitrou, Machradze, Kostoulas, Torosidis.

Olympiakos :- Nikopolidis, Mavrogenidis, Georgatos, Schurrer, Vallas, Kostoulas (88' Taralidis), Djordjevic, Georgiadis (59' Castillo), Giovanni (70' Maric), Rivaldo, Okkas.

Xanthi :- Pizanovksi, Sikov, Zapropoulos, Papadimitrou, Machradze, Torosidis, Luchiano (78' Kleber), Antzas (70' Garpozis), Prittas, Baikara (89' Vozabal), Labriakos.
