O'Leary linked with Emerton swoop
By Dominic Raynor

Leeds United are interested in signing Feyenoord's Australian midfielder Brett Emerton, according to the Dutch club.

They claim Leeds manager David O'Leary travelled to Holland on Sunday to watch the 23-year-old play against Heerenveen in Rotterdam and spoke to Feyenoord president Jorien van den Herik after the match.

Feyenoord spokesman Jon Schwartz said: 'They, O'Leary and van den Herik, had coffee and talked in the President's Club and talked about many things, including Emerton, but Feyenoord are still waiting to see if Leeds meet the valuation of the player.

'Leeds have not made an official bid and it is up to them where they go from here.'

But Leeds sources insist that while the Australian international remains a potential target, O'Leary was actually in Holland to check out the progress of another, unnamed player.

Feyenoord are believed to want around £8m for Emerton, who has also been linked with Liverpool. The midfielder has been in fine form this season, helping his club to the UEFA Cup Final, which will be played at Feyenoord's De Kuip Stadion.

Right now Leeds have all the answers in the Midfield and wing backs don't they?
They were super throughout the season.
They outplayed all the major sides - YEAH

They get the ball to the forwards quickly.
They have great vision.
They get forward in numbers and into a scoring position.
They travel really well to create space down the flanks.
The ball is effectively crossed into the penalty box.
The Midfield and wing backs are all really quick.

Why do they need Brett Emerton to provide the above.

Next year if DOL doesn't change his attacking game plan and defending square in defense - top teams will find Leeds easy picking ( Ask Liverpool and Man Utd ).

If Leeds want to finish in the top 3, then
Leeds are going to need 2 extra classy midfielders and maybe 1 or 2 wing backs - depending where DOL play Mills.
I would keep Mills as one wing back.
I would keep the 3 main strikers - start with Viduka and ROK

If Leeds want to finish in the TOP 10.
Keep most players and add nothing to the squad.

You are from Australia mate. Did u watch Emerton in the World Cup Qualifier? He was ****, almost as bad as Viduka. I don't think that he would make that big a difference. He is in consistent.

I did watch the WC qualifer , Brett was surrounded on the right hand side of the field by SXXT Aussie players.
AS A PLAYER - YOU CANNOT DO EVERYTHING.
Viduka on those games - well he just didn't get any ball from a naive and out of touch midfield.

Leeds didn't play well in Europe this year, not so for Brett Emerton side with his important contribution has reached the finals of the UEFA Cup final.

Also a lot of other top clubs are after his signiture.

It's not an Aussie thing that I'm sticking up for Brett, I reckon his stlye of play is very much needed at Leeds.

If he ever came to Leeds, You guys will see that his contribution will be consistently the same as Rio or Bowyer.

At the end of the day, We all want Leeds to do well.
