in all due fairness Santamaria...I don't know where you are getting your info....ACOSTA is 33 going on 34 next week whereas Pizzi is 32..still younger.....I don't care if the guy is a million years old..the bottom line is if he will produce..and I think he will
I thhink Pizzi left Barca aa few years ago and is playing in Argentina with Central.
He has dual nationality - Spanish and Argentinian.
Was at his peak in his Tenerife days but failed to make an impact at Barca and went back to Argentina where he has found his goalscoring touch again. But can he produce the goods in Europe? But in our easy league he should adjust just fine
Maric is a Magpie reject and his reputation in Newcastle isn't very good. Ruud Gullit was impressed with him when Silvio was playing at Croatia Zagreb. Gullit brought him to St. James' Park but he failed to adjust to the fast pace of the English game. He is 25 years old and has about 10 Croatian Caps.
I don't think either of the 2 are worth getting excited about but certainly useful additions to the squad. Pizzi is good in the air and Maric will take players on and play in a Deco role happily if asked to by FS.
2 cheap buys - typical PDC. Where's the rest of da money ya fat geezer!
Pizzi was at RIVER PLATE on loan 2 ROSARIO CENTRAL and he is 1 good striker !!! While Silvio Maric was meant 2 be the hottest young prospect from CROATIA he is 1 hell of a player and RUUD GULLIT stuffed him up & most ITALIAN TEAMS wanted him as well. His Profile is in WORLD SOCCER & i will post it when i find it...
BTW PORTO has almost signed this guy from SAO PAULO called MARCOS VINICIUS for 600 mil contos ZE NEED YOUR HELP...
PDC has said that Sa Pinto wasnt on his list any more...
Andre, HILARIO (MARCOS FAVOURITE) , HAVE ALL BEEN DISPENSADOS OR THEY WILL GO ON LOAN OR GO 2 THE "B" TEAM !!!
btw CONGRATULATIONS SPORTING ON YOUR 2-0 LOST 2 VITORIA DE SETUBAL KEEP THAT UP !!!
I'm the one who started this "worried" thing and I take it back. Alenitchev was introduced today along with Maric. Pizzi arrives tomorrow. Any guy who scores 31 goals in the Spanish League HAS to be good. So we're potentially looking at:
Pedro Espinha (Ovchinikov)
Nelson, Jorge Costa, Jorge Andrade and Rubens Junior
Alenichev, Paulinho, Paredes and Pavlin
Maric and Pizzi (Domingos, Clayton)
And there's still Deco, Capucho, Drulovic, Chainho, Peixe, Candido Costa, Ricardo Silva, Esquerdinha, Secretario....
