Celtic watching Ipswich whiz Bowditch
tribalfootball.com - April 15, 2004

Celtic are monitoring Ipswich Town's exciting youngster Darren Bowditch.
The teenage striker is also interesting Arsenal, Spurs and Manchester City. He actually turned down a traineeship at Manchester Unietd to move to Portman Road.

Ipswich boss Joe Royle said: "We have loads of scouts watching our players but that is to be expected given how well they have done."

Bowditch was watched by Celtic when Ipswich travelled to Rotherham United last weekend.

Carbone considers QPR

QPR are being linked with a move for Parma striker Benito Carbone. The Second Division promotion chasers feel the ex-Villa star could be the player to lead them into the First Division. His agent Gianni Palladini wants to buy shares in the London side and would certainly look to sign the former Inter ace.

Rivals on alert as Preston accept Fuller's request

West Brom and Wolves are set to lock horns in a battle to sign Ricardo Fuller after Preston accepted a transfer request from the striker.

Speculation has raged for weeks over the player's future and fuel was added to the fire recently when he left his accommodation in Preston.

The Jamaica international turned down a lucrative contract extension earlier this year and will be able to leave Deepdale on a free next summer.

Preston chairman Derek Shaw told the official club website: "We have to be realistic. There is no point holding on to a player who is not 110% behind the club and his team-mates. My job as chairman is to secure the best deal for the club."

Shaw claims Fuller has been unsettled since Preston rejected a bid from Wolves earlier this year, while the Baggies are actively seeking to sign a new striker ahead of their forthcoming Premiership campaign.

Lilywhites boss Craig Brown admits it is a blow to his plans for the Championship campaign and said: "I am naturally very disappointed.

"Apparently Ricardo is very impatient to get into the bigger money. It is a blow to lose one of the better players, but we will press on as a matter of urgency to find a suitable replacement."

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR have confirmed the signing of Callum Davenport from Coventry City.

The 21-year-old defender joined Spurs on Monday evening after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms on Sunday.

The initial fee for the highly rated player is £1.1million and could rise to £3million depending on appearances.

The England Under-21 international centre half made 84 first-team appearances for Coventry.

Frank Arnesen told the official Spurs site: “He’s a great talent with special qualities, a very promising central defender who possesses a good mentality and who will further enhance our growing squad.

“He illustrates our current attitude at Tottenham, seeking out players for now and players for the future.

Sky Blues ready to make move for Big Dave
By Martin Swain
Sep 4, 2004, 11:59

Albion folk hero Darren Moore has become the top target among Gary Megson's
promotion specialists for a move to the Championship.

Coventry are among a cluster of clubs eyeing the man nicknamed "Big Dave" by
Baggies fans after his key roles in two triumphant promotion campaigns.

This week's three-player swoop took Albion's summer recruitment total to 11
new players - and that has left Championship clubs looking at manager
Megson's fringe men with envious eyes.

Moore, the powerful central defender, tops their list with Coventry certain
bidders after selling Calum Davenport to Tottenham for £3m this week.

Scouts flocked to Elland Road on Thursday night to watch an Albion reserves
side containing Moore, Sean Gregan, James O'Connor and Ronnie Wallwork.

Gregan remains a target for Leeds and manager Kevin Blackwell saw the
transfer-seeking utility player produce an impressive performance. At the
moment, however, Blackwell is struggling to raise the £400,000 asking price.

Strikers Geoff Horsfield, who has now won promotions to the Premiership with
three different clubs, and Rob Hulse are also names regularly on the lips of
Championship bosses.

Horsfield has helped take Fulham, Birmingham City and the Baggies up.

But he is likely to be the man who misses out now that Robbie Earnshaw has
arrived from Cardiff to partner Kanu in Albion's attack.

But it is the towering Moore who is attracting particular interest now that
he finds himself behind Thomas Gaardsoe, Darren Purse and Martin Albrechtsen
in the pecking order.

Albion paid £750,000 for his services midway through the club's first
promotion campaign and he became a huge hit with the fans.

He has fought back bravely from cruciate ligament damage only to find that
Albion's quest for a stronger squad has made his once automatic selection
become a thing of the past.

Ricketts joins Coventry
By Simon Yeowart for THEspursweb.com

Spurs winger Rohan Ricketts has joined Championship side Coventry City on a month's loan.

The 21-year old has joined up with Peter Reid at Highfield Road in a bid to gain first team experience.

After some encouraging performances in the Tottenham side last season, Ricketts has failed to convince the new management team that he ready for the Premiership stage.

It is thought the former Arsenal youth player will almost certainly play a part for Coventry this weekend in their clash with Leicester.

Taricco wants Ipswich move
By Neil Vaughan for THEspursweb.com

MAURICIO TARICCO has admitted that he would welcome a move back to Ipswich Town.

The Argentinian has yet to make an appearance for Spurs in the Premiership this season.

Taricco last night told the EADT: "There are only a few clubs in England I would go to – and Ipswich is a club that I would go to – no question. I had some great times there and I was treated right when I was there.

"If I don't get a move to one of those few clubs then I will probably hang up my boots at the end of the season or go abroad.

"But I'm under contract here at Spurs and until that changes I will be totally professional and do my job here."

You never now these days, but with Reidy just gone from Cov, and them not naming a new manager yet, wouldn't it be a bit presumptious of the Cov Chairman (Richardson?) to sell players before installing a new gaffer?
