This is the second match of the tournament. It will be played today and Farina has said there will be changes. New Caledonia lost their first match to Fiji 2-1.

Farina said he will rotate the squad throughout the tournament because 5 games in 9 days is very demanding he said. Dean Anastasiadis, Joel Porter, Angelo Costanzo and Ante Juric are likely to figure after they did not play against Vanuatu.

My prediction for this game: 4-0 Australia

Incredible prediction Kenny (dyertribe)

Socceroos won 11-0 I just heard on the news, Despotovski scored 4 goals. Has anyone scored 5 goals from their first 2 games in Socceroo history? ;)

The Socceroos have bounced back from Saturday's meagre display against Vanuatu to thump New Caledonia 11-0 and secure their place in the semi-finals of the Oceania Nations Cup in New Zealand.

The makeshift Aussie team ripped through their young opponents, thanks largely to a commanding performance from Perth Glory striker Bobby Despotovski who was making his first starting appearance for the Socceroos.

He began the rout in the third minute, added a penalty in the 56th minute, then scored twice within a minute late in the match at Ericsson Stadium in Auckland.

Those two goals sparked the Socceroos to finish with a flourish, scoring five times in the final 13 minutes.

Swiss-based midfielder Scott Chipperfield scored twice, with skipper Steve Horvat, Damian Mori, Paul Trimboli and Socceroo debutants Joel Porter and Angelo Costanzo also finding the net.

Australia attacked relentlessly from the outset and led 5-0 at halftime.

But New Caledonia had a good period after halftime before Mori was fouled in the box in the 56th minute and Despotovski's penalty sparked the Socceroos back into action.

The Perth striker then struck in the 77th and 78th minutes before Marconi defender Angelo Costanzo, Melbourne Knights substitute Joel Porter and South Melbourne veteran Paul Trimboli finished off the New Caledonians.

Australia's final group match is against Fiji on Wednesday, with the semi-finals on Friday.

Australia is certain to qualify top of the group after Fiji, which was expected to be the other semi-finalist from the Socceroos' group, was upset 1-0 by Vanuatu in Monday's other match.

A sixth minute goal to Willie August Marango was enough to give Vanuatu a surprise win.

New Zealand has already qualified for the semi-finals with wins in its opening two matches and looks likely to be the Socceroos' opponent in the final on Sunday.

The winner of that match qualifies as Oceania's representative for next year's Confederations Cup.

Well Archie Thompson got 13 or so in that win over American Samoa...

Yeah, those 13 strikes were in his second game ...

John Aloisi scored 5 on debut vs Solomon Islands in the OFC WCQ'ers in 1997 ...
