The pre-season is over, the transfer window is closed so here's a new thread for anything related with Sporting's participation in this season's Liga Sagres.

After the 2nd Round we are already 4 points ahead of Benfica and 2 of Porto. Not bad for a club that spent a ridiculous amount of money on transfers when compared to its rivals. :lick:

Good news from Alvalade...20 year old midfielder Bruno Pereirinha signed a two years extension to his contract with Sporting, which is now valid until 2013. :thumbsup:

According to today's "A Bola", Tonel is being followed by a series of European squads (Lazio, Panathinaikos, Rangers) who may bid for him in the coming January transfer window. I doubt Sporting will sell him at that stage of the season though.

January transfer window news:

The young forward Carlos Saleiro who was on loan at Vitória de Setúbal will play from now at Académica also loaned by Sporting.

The maverick goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic has been loaned to La Liga side Getafe FC. He will be replacing Pato Abbondanzieri who will go back to Argentina to play for Boca Juniors.

The English press claimed this week that Miguel Veloso is a serious target for Manchester City. Apparently they are keen to pay €20M for our midfielder, which is the minimum amount that Sporting is asking. If he is sold for that, I think it's a great deal for us.
