25 man squad for Premier League:
Goalkeepers: Julian Speroni, Lewis Price, Neil Alexander;
Defenders: Joel Ward, Jonathan Parr, Jack Hunt, Paddy McCarthy, Danny Gabbidon, Damien Delaney, Dean Moxey, Adrian Mariappa;
Midfielders: Mile Jedinak, Kagisho Dikgacoi, Barry Bannan, Adlene Guedioura, Stuart O’Keefe, Jimmy Kebe, Jerome Thomas, Yannick Bolasie, Jason Puncheon, Elliot Grandin;
Forwards: Cameron Jerome, Dwight Gayle, Kevin Philips, Marouane Chamakh.
+ any U21 players - midfielders Jonathan Williams and Jose Campana will no doubt feature in this squad.
Ex-Bordeaux left back Florian Marange misses out due to playing like crap in friendlies and cup games and Dean Moxey’s decent permances in the first team. Many are wondering why we signed him this summer. Rumours are that the scouts fukked up and management think he’s not good enough.
Last season’s top scorer Glen Murray has been out for months with a knee injury, he has just returned to full running and aims to be back in December.
We haven't discarded all the players that helped us get up. Of all the players that have left the club only two, Ramage and Moritz, played a significant role in last season's squad. And 14 of this 27 man squad were here last season.
Garvan, Wilbraham and Dobbie unable to play, you guys think Bolasie, O'Keefe and Williams will play much if at all with all these signings? Dikagoi, Phillips.... all these panic buys going to get a chance i feel.
Nice to see that premier league refs are just as incompetent as those in the championship, hopefully Ashley Young will be sent off for simulation at some point this season : [email protected] :
New signing Jack Hunt has broken his ankle in training.
Jonny Williams picked up a bad ankle injury playing for Wales ( again FFS :wth: ) and could be out for months.
Joel Ward has torn a calf muscle, also in training.
Yannick Bolasie and Jerome Thomas are still absent with injuries picked up pre season.
So although we have a big squad ,we also have a fair few injuries.
Lost 2-0 at home today. Glenn Murray started his first game since his injury. Didn't look match fit obviously but won quite a bit in the air. Ince/Puncheon didn't look anywhere near as effective as they looked against WBA. When Bolasie came on he looked lively, he can't cross or shoot but is one of the few attacking players we have (along with Williams who hardly plays) who looks keen to run at defences and beat a man. Overall the better team won.
Our fans were amazing as usual. man u fans showed how vile they are by singing c*ntona songs during the applause for Tom Finney. But no surprises there.
Onwards and upwards, we have enough to survive this season.
1-1 at Swansea today. Awful performance 1st half, we had like 17% possession, they just played with us, Bolasie was the only outfield player who looked half decent. 1-0 De Guzman scores for Swansea. Speroni made a good save to keep us in the game. Chamakh came off with what looked like hamstring problem. Cameron Jerome replaced him. Tom Ince had another bad game, he looks so weak, at half time he came off for Murray and we switched to 442 for 2nd half, when we played much better. Murray won a lucky pen from a professional foul from Chico Flores that looked outside the box. He took the pen, placed it in the top corner. We may have won in the final minutes but Jerome Thomas decided to dive instead of shoot. Cheers Jerome. Pulis said that he'll be fined along with Chamakh for diving, though I don't remember seeing Chamakh's dive. Southampton at home next on Sat.
Jason Puncheon :star: take a bow son, he's pissed me off a few times this season where he was at fault for the goal v Soton and other performances where he didn't seem to want to take responsibility as a winger, but today MOTM no contest, 2 good finishes and set up Ledley's goal too, his freekicks were quality today, and he looks a much more confident player. The first goal was our first from open play in 10 hours apparantly (not counting Terry's O.G.)
Pulis = Genius
Our next 3 games are v Villa, Everton + West Ham where hopefully we can wrap up our place in the league for next season, before we have to play ManCity, Liverpool + Fulham.
