It looks like it will be a great end to the season with 4 teams fighting it out for the last spot in the top 6. The other 5 finalists are already confirmed and they are:
Perth 54 (Minor Premiers
)
Newcastle 42 (Confirmed second spot)
Olympic 37
Brisbane 36
Melbourne 36
These 3 teams can change places in the final round.
But the real interesting battle begins here. 4 teams are fighting it out for the 6th spot. They are: South Meloburne, Northern Spirit, Parramatta and Marconi. South Melbourne are in the box seat and a draw at home to Marconi will probably do it for them on Friday at home to Marconi.
This is the current standings of the teams and goal difference:
South Melb 33 GD +6
Parramatta 31 GD -1
Nthn Spirit 31 GD -6
Marconi 30 GD -2
Now the controversey starts. Did any of you guys watch On the Ball yesterday? They explained how the South-Marconi game will be played on Firday due to some TV crap. Was it something to do with C7? If so will it be moved back to Sunday?
If South wins on Friday that means that the rest of the weekend is a dead weekend. There is also the Con Boutsianis saga. I have to say that once again SA have showed how poor they are.
That being said, amid all the controversy, I personally believe South Melbourne will stun everyone even more and make the grand final against the Glory at Subiaco Oval
